Which set of binoculars would you suggest for a CA deer hunter. Im looking at either the Nikon Monarch ATB or Leupold Wind River Mesa? Which power do you suggest 8x42 or 10x50?

This topic has been discussed many times, try reading some of the old threads. The Nikon Monarch ATB's has been the favorite of many, including myself. As for 10x or 8x, that is personally preference, I like 10x but also this has been discussed many times as well.

I had a pair of Nikon Action Series in 10x50. They were "ok" until the interior lense fogged on me. I took them back to Turners and they gave me a credit. I asked to see the Leupold Wind River in 12x50. I walked outside and I was IN LOVE...Those things are awesome. I paid a lot for them, but I figure they will last me for the next 15 + years. Check em out, you wont be dispointed. They are awesome in VERY low light conditions...Good luck HH714

I have never looked through the Nikons but do have the Leupold Wind River 10X50's. they perform well in all conditions. I think they are particularly good in low light. My only complaint is I wish they had a little more magnification. At 150 yards it's difficult to quickly judge whitetails.

just bought a pair of the Monarch ATB 10x42 on e bay for $250 seem to
be pretty good glass for the money. Low light conditions seem good also
tried them at dusk looking at my horses 1/4 mile away in the pasture. Much
better than the Alaskan Guide Binocs from cabelas i've had the last few
years. Would recommend to anyone looking in this price range.

If you plan on spending hours behind them glassing open country, I'd go for the 8x. Easier on the eyes as they don't jump around as much. I bought the ATB's 8*42 and have zero complaints and have hunted with them in all conditions.

I have a set of the Leupold Wind River Cascades and I'm very happy with them. I use the 10X42s which are more compact than the 10X50s. I use a binocular harness that keeps them close to my chest when not in use and I can carry and use them all day comfortably.
