NM area 49

It has come down that there are two open tags in a group(due to medical reasons) and I have been offered one. I am told that this is all legit, the affected parties can either return the tags for refunds or another hunter can take their place. Anyone know if this is right so far? Secondly, anyone have any info on the area, it's around Talus, NM.

I hunted that area a couple years ago for a cow elk. It is the Carson National Forest. Saw plenty of sign and had my opportunities. It was my first time elk hunting so I made some mistakes that cost me. I'll be up there again this year to try again. Can't help you on the transfer of tags. Good luck on what you decide. GDT

Thanks for that. As my bad luck would have, the in-laws will be in town that week. You know, new baby, visiting family, yada, yada, yada. Just means I can dive or go tuna fishing instead.
