Spoke to NM game and fish on the phone. Yes, the extension is valid but of course it only applies to those who have sucessfully drawn but their credit card failed due to the fact they changed a mailing adress, or it was stolen and canceled or it had no sufficient funds. I was also told that if your credit card has not been charged by now then you pretty much did not draw :( yes, the lady never quite admitted it and told me to check tomorrow anyway but it was clearly implied. Oddly a coworker of mine had no charge all day yesterday and then he got 5 charges all together last night from game and fish from him and the kids. Anyhow, check the webpage tomorrow, who knows computer errors do occur we might get a tag :)

This is not giving me warm fuzzy feeling. Does anyone know how the Valles Caldera draw works; should I see a CC hit if I drew? I'm grasping at straws here. I'm down to AZ if I don't draw something in NM.

Hi there. Here's the scop: The valles caldera uses a third party card processing outfit to process credit card charges used to buy the tickets that could get you a nice elk tag. So, if you use a credit card, you generally see the Valles caldera charges on there before the regular state draw results are out. Look at the charges on your credit card and see if you have a charge that you dont recognize and that could be it.

Dont take this as law, but I am pretty sure I am very close to being right. anybody else?

BTW, if I understood this correctly, if you were one of the people that applied online and used a credit card which bounced for any of the reasons mentioned above, you should have received an e-mail notifying you of this fact.

I think we are out of luck for the regular draw if are CC were not hit. I called Valles Caldera and they said winners would be posted tomorrow, but that they would have to "claim" the hunt. As I remember now my CC was not pre-athorized when I applied.

I understood the Valles Caldera is paid for up front (lottery tickets) of course you pay for the tag later.

Just some FYI on credit card charges and how companies do it.

You have to give the billing address for the card, where the bank sends the bill for the card. If you have a seperate address you use or you recently moved the card will bounce. Most card processing softwares look at the zip code for the address to verify it for fraud protection. Many bidness owners now also use the security code on the back of the card, the 3 digit number to the right in your signature block. AKA the CV2 number. Make sure you have that number and it's not worn off. Some of our customers try guessing what their number is and it just bouces during the fraud check. You'll need to get a new card if you can't read your CV2 number.

One other thing that has tripped me up a time or two is some companies use what is called Verified by Visa. This a more thorough fraud check that you have to set up thru your bank that verifies who you are. If you don't have this set up you can't buy whatever it is you are wanting like in my case.
