I was hunting on Pancho Rico Creek Ranch, San Ardo, CA, with guide David Rossi last Fri and Sat (May 18-20). Fri we saw about a dozen pigs toward tyilight they were about 1/4 mi. away. They were hidden by tall grass and all we could see was their silhouette against the horizen. As we approached in the jeep, so did a bunch of cows and that spooked them and they vanished. We looked but couldn't find them.
Sat morning we looked several hours to no avil. I was starting to think I'd never get a pig. Then on the evening hunt after about 2 hours or so, we found the herd from the previous night. As we approach by foot, most of them ran. This one was about 80 yards off. I fired because she moved and I panicked. The shot sent her to a more advantageous location and I was able to aim again this time for the hit.
Actually, it only weightd about 80 pounds. Is now at the butchers
