Hi I live in Big Bear, about a year now. I am pretty familiar with the area though i have been coming here for a long time, hiking, backpacking, 4 wheeling in my jeep, snowboarding backcountry in san G, mountain biking etc.

I am interested in deer hunting and I've taken the hunter class. I am self employed so I can and plan on getting out during the week and try and avoid hunting weekends. If anyone local to the area wants to team up and hunt weekdays let me know.

Yellow post camping or backpack overnight works for me, getting up early and hunting the morning or whatever. I am a pretty fit hiker so putting in miles or rough terrain off trail is not new to me. I was really hoping to do some hunting in San G but the lake fire put a stop to that. San G is my stomping ground so I am pretty bummed about the area. Although i have never been up the whitewater area out of the morongo valley, that may be a place to backpack it into and hunt.

Anyways I plan on hunting the north side of the lak,e holcolmb valley area to coxey meadow, and looking at going down bear creek thru the Sideria creek trail, or is it camp creek trail?

Hey Beantown how did you make out with the fire? I can give you some advice been hunting D14 for many years all over, how good is your 4X4? If it is really good head back to the JB trail, very difficult but there are some super nice muleys up there and during the week it would be outstanding the first week of opening

Hi OPAH. Looks like I missed out on getting a d14 tag, I just finished the class and none are available anymore. I've done jb, but wouldn't go alone tho without another jeep.

I'm going to get a tag for Angeles nf, and it's also good for los padres zone. I'm familiar with both these areas as well. I plan on hunting sheephorn wilderness behind baldy and between Baden powel. I've always wante to hike down in the canyons between so I think that's where I'm gonna go. Also I will probably make a trip to frazier park I have some ideas where to go out there as well. Gene Marshall trail, nice and remote.
