Nor Cal hog hunting advice wanted

Hi, I'm new to hunting pigs and was wondering if anyone knows where I can get pigs in Nor Cal. I've heard that the Tehama Wildlife Area has some where, but have also heard that there aren't any there.

I think that sums it up. They are where they are. Lots of public land that they can be on but not always,not often, fact is pigs on public land are hit and miss. More miss. This subject has been talked about so much. If you live near a good piece of public that you can get to know intimately then put the time in and you will be successful. If not your probably gonna burn lots of expensive fuel for very little . Good luck

Unfortunately he's right ... look for private land and mil bases. Hint

Military land is public land. Just restricted access. !

If I lived close to a public area that had hogs on it. I would hunt them like crazy . Because I believe if the animals are present and you have the time to figure them out. You can definitely be successful. Where I live there are some turkeys and bucks. They are heavily pressured and so fun to hunt. I don’t get one every year but still love hunting them . I just don’t live close enough to some pig BLM to be that dedicated so it’s not worth driving 3-4 hrs every weekend to get to that level of understanding . Consider yourself lucky if you have some decent hog population on accessible land near you. Every other year or so we pay to go to some ranch and harvest a hog . It’s fun and believe me I have already paid my blm hog dues . Good luck whatever path you choose

Very nice , I didn’t even know about that area till a few years ago. Being that I live in nor cal. My brother lives in so cal and we were looking for somewhere to meet up for a hunt . We didn’t get on any that weekend but I would definitely put some time in if I lived closer . Good luck to you, I am glad you are getting it done. This is a good time to be a hog hunter. Conditions are perfect and the hogs are fat . My wife and I got one each on a ranch last summer and are still eating on them. Delicious !!!
