I know that Cottonwood, and the DFG section of Cache Creek don't allow dogs, but can anybody suggest any public land properties that do allow pig hunting with dogs?

Thanks, Nick

Hunting with Dogs
For hunters who are fairly fit, hunting with dogs can be quite successful. Good pig dogs will get on a fresh scent and usually chase a wild pig until it is brought to bay or cornered. The dog’s barking will lead the hunter to the wild pig. This technique often results in a fairly active chase, over long distances in rough country.
Only dogs skilled in wild pig hunting should be used. A large wild pig brought to bay may become very aggres- sive. Unskilled dogs could be seriously injured.

Dept of Fish & Wildlife still hast this advice on their website. I thought the ban on dogs was for Barr hunting.

Prop 1221 is for bear and bobcat only, not all mammals. I was at the capitol 4 or 5 times this year along with several others. Mike

Mikes right, 1221 says nothing about pigs. Thanks for going to the capitol too.

1221 Pertains to Bear and Bobcats. You can hunt on Blm lands or some forest service lands. But most run on private property. you got it right Mike(lepcur).
If you do not know the regulation donot mislead others. by posting what you think.
§265. Use of Dogs for Pursuit/Take of Mammals or for Dog Training.

Thanks Pat, I think I might have met you a few months back at Predators and talked about your Plotts a little bit. I'm aware of being able to hunt BLM and forest service, I guess I should put that in my original post too.

I tried to hunt Upper cotton wood with dogs/Catahoulas but the F&g said Upper cotton would is like a deer preserve and they did not want dog hunting for big game/pigs. Some mentioned the concern was for the private land neighbors & trespassers.
