You have got to be kidding me there are only a dozen guys that would want a chance at a bore like the one from last year??? Plus we might even smack a predator or two.
We have not hunted this ranch since Christmas so it should be pretty darn good..well worth a free try anyway!!

Thanks for the opportunity and supporting JHO! I would love to go, but I feel this trip is for someone who is deserving. I haven't done anything significant and I don't know anyone who deserves such a hunt. I can afford a hunt as long as I make the time for it, so this would be great for someone who doesn't have the means to.

Like most of us on here, I would love to go. Instead, I would like to nominate my best friend Mike. I have known him since 2nd grade and we are now 32. He has never hunted and has never shown an inclination until the past few months. He bought a used rifle and we have been shooting it and getting him dialed in. He just completed his hunters safety and is ready to go. It would be cool to surprise him with his first hunt. He has twins and does not have the money to spend on a guided hunt right now.

Like many of us the economy issues have hit us hard, but I still try at times to get out there and chase those ever elusive public land hogs. I've had the opportunity to hunted private property in the past and have my wall hanger. But it's public land and this type of hunting that I enjoy, if I am able to close the distance and take a hog that is great but its more about spending time in the field and taking someone new out to show them the ropes. This is why I would like to nominate my great buddy Ryan.
Ryan being out of state, makes it hard these days to meet up and hang out. Plus we both have started families. I had the chance to head to AZ and do a few hunts with him, but over the last two years things have been tough financially. He keeps bugging me to do a guided hog hunt with him here in CA but I just cannot swing that cost and if he were to come out I can take him to my spots for hogs (3% success) but I want him to be able to go home with a wall hanger. He is an Ex-Marine, actually once a Marine always a Marine and still works today to ensure the safety of our men and women overseas & home. He is the type of guy/friend that always puts others before himself and has helped me dearly over the decades. So far this has been a year of firsts for him, newly married, his son born at the end of last month and a new home owner and I would love to have him take his first wild boar as well. If Ryan were to be chosen, you would also be doing me a favor, the opportunity to pay him back in a way that I could only dream about.
So please consider Ryan and thank you Parrey for putting this chance out there for all us JHO'ers.

I would love a chance to go on a guided hunt! I've never had the chance or money. I have my hard luck stories including completly giving up hunting for seventeen years while I was involved with my and other kids in scouts , sports and church. I don't have the money for a guided hunt. I have an old dolphin I rebuilt to hunt and fish out of. I also have a friend who might pay for a hunt if I get chosen. Alas if my being chosen would eliminate Zach, I thing like many others here, give it to his nephew.
The reason I haven't put in for this hunt earlier is I feel selfish considering....
I'd feel better if this were a random drawing.

I would like to nominate my friend Brent. Brent is my hunting partner. Brent has hunted for a long time and grew up in Monterey County hunting pigs. During the next 30 years of his life he took a back seat to hunting and made raising his kids and fulfilling their needs a priority. Brent also focused on his career and his retirement goals. Brent is now retired and some 30 years later is getting back into hog hunting. I would love to see Brent win this hunt based on one fact, he deserves it. I think someone who places others and other people’s needs over their own is deserving of something this nice. Brent has a passion for hunting hogs and I think this would be a perfect gift.
I would love to accompany Brent on this hunt and I have no problem with purchasing my own slot during this hunt.

WOW! Thanks Bryan for the nomination but I'm sure there is someone more deserving than me. I just happened on this and I am blown away. I'm having a great time hunting with you and the others in the circle. The hunting has been great and one of these times we will score. $1.00 on the first and a $1.00 on the biggest. And March is coming up for the Elk and deer plans.

Your hunt buddy, Brent

Another contestant

Since "Just for Hunting" needs contestants, I have found someone who is a deserving candidate to increase the contestant pool. I’d like to nominate my colleague Boris S. Boris is a Russian émigré who works in the IT at UCLA. He is a superb target shooter and wins all sorts of awards in silhouette shooting with small caliber rifles & pistols. So when my wife of 40+ years wanted to learn to shoot last year, Boris took his own time to be her shooting coach. He taught her very well so that she then shot her first deer at Catalina in December at 240 yds. However, Boris himself has never been hunting for “big game” either in Russia or here in the US. I’ve tried to get Boris to come hunting with me on a guided hunt for hogs in Central CA as I know he’d have a great time and get “hooked” on hunting. He even went and did his hunter safety course but frankly the price of a guided hunt is a bit too steep for him with all his family responsibilities - I will not bore you with them. Suffice it to say, he says he’s really “not that interested” in large animal hunting but I know it’s just a face saving measure because of the cost. I think if he had the opportunity to go on one of your guided hunts, it will get him started as an outstanding hunter as he is already a crack shot. I would certainly accompany him at my cost if he is chosen, not only to take a chance at a hog after he gets his but also to take pics. I'd also lend him an appropriate rifle as he doesn't own anything in near the right caliber.

Pig Hunt Giveaway

Thank you for doing this. Should you choose me I'd like to slay one with a compound bow. To sweeten the deal somewhat for you I have a digital camera or three and would like to take a lot of photos and post them on a bunch of message boards that I frequent. This would be great publicity for you that you deserve for doing this. With the archery laser rangefinder my clean kill range is over 40 yards. If you would like to insure success I can bring a rifle as well in case we can't get close enough.

Ok, you need to choose me, why you ask, because my ego needs it, and because I'll make sure there are two winners, myself being the first, then I'll give it to Fugaloo's Nephew Zach; after all, he deserves it much more than I do.

Thank you, Thank you, Thank you. Zach is going to be so thrilled. Thank you also to all those who chimed in in support of Zach. This kid really is deserving of such a great opportunity. I will tell him today after he gets out of school. He is going to be working with my kid on his baseball technique. I really think this will be the moment he becomes addicted to hunting. And as promised I will have a detailed account with photos, AND a short version. Thanks again, and Thank you to Just for Hunting for providing this chance.

Congrats! I've never met Parrey in person, but he's been an acquaintance of mine through hunting forums for a number of years now. As I'm sure you know also, you will not be disappointed! Have fun.
