Off to Oregon

Well, I almost have everything packed and I am on my way to the East side for a little Elk hunting. Last year I was able to harvest a spike in the same area and I hope to get something a little bigger this year.

This will be the first time I have gone this early in the season and my normal hunting party will be showing up on the 10th, so at the very least, I will be able to scout for them. My Friend from ODWF is meeting up with me sometime next week--he knows the herd well in our area!

I will attempt to call in a few reports!

Good luck on the hunt. I am dying to hit the road for Idaho but I have another month and half to wait so I'll be living through stories like yours, post up lots fo pics and info

I heard a rumor your headed to CO for archery elk too, good luck on that one it sounds like a killer place from what I hear!

I read in Eastman's that for a non-resident drawing an elk tag in Oregon, that the odds are really stacked against non-residents. How hard has it been for you to draw ?

Thanks...Yes, Oregon and then Colorado...

Have talked to BC and AS (he is out shopping for a new Lexus) and I will try to keep them updated with reports...

I will be hunting in a general over-the-counter area for archery. Historically, it has been any elk, but this GMU changed to any bull this year.

I didn't get drawn for an elk tag this year but did get my buck tag for eastern oregon.

It has been my experience that 4years is the about average on draws for elk tags. Oregon is not known for it's book animals but the draws are pretty fair to non residents compared to other states like NM, NV and AZ...
