O.K. I went to C.R. today again , or actually arrived at the tracks Sun. 2:30a.m.It was cold as a Mofo!! Anyway i was 1st in line once again and forgot my little notebook with eveyones vehicles so i could intoduce myself.

Anyway , I suggest to new hunters if you go to C.R. get the annual licensce . It seems to get you in front of EVERONE else who is in line in front of you that is just buying the daily licensce.Sorry guys just a little bitter after the lack of sleep and long driving time, and cold weather, only to be pushed aside . I think the DFG lady was trying to make it easier for everyone but she didnt.

Well again saw LOTS of sign but alas no pigs.We did see a heard of about 40 elk in area 4 , the part that was closed. Also big (maybe) mountain lion tracks? They looked like a cat to me. I also came across 2 spent mortar rounds and a M16 30 round clip in the mud in area 1! I made a long detuor around the mortars ( you never know.)

Oh yeah i noticed another white Mazda 4x4 at C.R. today. It was not me. Mine is Bigger!

I hope all who went had great succes or at least had fun. I know we did!

Im a little depressed about my luck and probably skill on public land right now

Well, I'm back now from CR. Saw LIVE2HUNT.
Like reddog5 said it was COLD! The girl at the booth said only 1 pig was taken all weekend. She said that the one was caught sleeping. She also said that when it's that cold, they just hunker-down, and stay hidden. I think she was right.
I never saw so many animals; 2 bobcats, many-many deer, that big herd of elk, a fox, and yes 2 pigs. The pigs were scared-up by my partner, and were way out of range, across the river. We chased a couple up in area 3, but they kept running us in circles, and got away.
Anyway, it was great fun, but next time, I'm going with warmer weather, for better luck.

Went to CR on Saturday. It was good to meet and chatted with Blastmaster. Saw lots of signs and many pigs, about 20 or so. But didn't get any. It was around 1pm when I and my dad decided to dig in the cooler for some lunch. While we were eating a group of 13 piglets wonder by us within 40 yards. We watch them for about 5 minutes before they disappeared into the thickets. After lunch we decided to head over to an area where we discovered lots of fresh rootings for an evening hunt. About 4pm a group of pigs came feeding across the scattered oak tree hillside about 50 yards from us. They didn't know we were there. I could have easily popped the big sow but it was the only big sow and she's got about 6 or 7 piglets with her. We didn't want the piglets to be orphans so we let mama go with them. The piglets were about 10 pounds and still have the white stripes on them. Hopefully those piglets will survive until next April when CR opens again. By then they will be about 60-70 pounds which makes perfect for the grilled.

Dang man! How do you guys see so many pigs? I must be in the wrong areas. Do you think you see more pigs in the a.m. or p.m.? I came across 1 little water puddle in particular that had fresh tracks everywhere I followed them up the ridge were they crossed the road down the next canyon with fresh sign all over. Maybe i should stay till closing next time.Oh well glad to hear everyone had fun!

Come to think about it, I've only seen pigs in the afternoon at CR, although I have heard of them being taken in the morning. I'm starting to think that girl was right about them not liking the cold.

When are they gonna post the 2004 schedule?
