Way to go L2H,
Yep, that country is tough. Sounds like your dad got his hog up where we got ours. Quads are nice, but you can hunt it pretty good without one. Sounds like you left a few for me on the 23rd. I tried calling Ken tonight to put the finishing details down for my hunt, but he wasn't home. I think were going to have the entire ranch to ourselves
Again, great story and awesome pics. Got 3 more weeks and hopefully will have the same success.
I noticed that the hogs doesn't wonder very far during our hunt. I saw the same group in two evenings and they were just 200 or 300 yards from where they were on the previous evening. If you hunt the Bowl Canyon, I know we left 16 hogs for ya. The guys running dogs killed a huge boar about 250 pounder out of No Mans Land Canyon. You guys bringing quads?
We didn't have a scale to weigh it. But that hog and my hog is about the same size. Only mine didn't have as much fat. We figured my brother's hog was about 150 pounds.
Hey L2H,
Yeah, we will have quads, not sure exactly on how many, I know of 3 for sure. One of my buddies may run out and buy 2 Hondas next week. If not, i'm hunting out of my 4 runner or maybe hitchin a ride. Can't wait, after seeing your hogs, got me jazzed all over again. On my last trip, my son Justin got his first big game animal, it was a great trip. This trip coming up is his little brother's turn, he's 14 and hopefully will nail his first animal
Then in November, I'm taking one of my 12 year old twin daughters, Mariah, there for her birthday present. Man, isn't that great, a 12 year old girl who want's to go hog hunting for her birthday. Just can't get my other daughter interested in hunting, she'd rather go shopping
Good luck and I hope you and your son get nail some big ones. My oldest daughter is 12 and she always beg me to go, but I can't seemed to get her started on the Hunter's Safety Class. The couple of places that I know offer Hunter's Safety Class said you must be 13 in order to sign up for the class. I might try WU to see if they'll let my 12 years old take the course.
That surprises me about the Hunter Safety Class making you be 13 to sign up. You can start hunting birds at age 10 here in CA. My stepson was 11 or 12 when he took his.
