I'm finally gearing up to order a Olympus C-750 UZ and have a few questions.

Where is the best place to get XD cards? ($price)

What mode is adequate for most pictures?

Do I need a 2x or 3x tele for wildlife shots?

Will using filter lenses make my pictures look better?

Will any slave flash work on the hot shoe?

Anyway to help with low light conditions?

Any other suggestions before I buy one?

Thanks

I bought one about a week ago; so I am still getting to know it. I love the camera and think you are making a great choice. Got mine from Beach camera for $420. The best price on XD cards I have found was $33 bucks for a 64mb card at ECOST.com. While you at it they have a XD/smart media reader for $19 too. Another must have is the the lens cap cover from www.olycap.com for $9. Good Luck.

CB,

I been using the Oly 750 for my Woods pictures this year... I use 99% of the time the Auto Functions. the focus lock in woods surroundings has been a challange, Bright sunny days not much of an Issue. overcast days differant story.

I have gotten around it several ways, mainly I see a Deer say 50 yards away and I am having trouble with a focus lock. I will drift off and have press the shutter Button to get a lock on an unobstructed abject at the same distance in an open area and drift back to take the sho.

Or I will bump up the ISO setting to say 200, this helps but adds noise to the picture.

I am using the Tcon 1.7x Teleconverter. takes me to 17x Optical zoom. has worked really well for even a 125 yard shot I can always crop down on the picture. remember on full zoom Lights tougher so holding still is an Issue. I have not had to much problem with it really.

as for Card I am using a 256 meg card. holds about 125 Pictures good for a days outing.

I think you will like the camera alot. Its great on batteries, lasts me all day and I do alot of zooming in and out.

coyotebandit...I have a 740 and don't use a card reader...have windows xp and just plug and download...did the same with windows 98.

Plus you should delete pics off the card using the camera.....not sure what the benefits are of using a reader.....maybe I'm missing something here?

Cliff,

I do the same as you, Just plug it in the usb Port on the puter Xp recognizes it as a drive, then I do what I want with them from there... when done just delete from the card and ready to go again... works well with no fuss.

G-Hog,

I went to www.resellerratings.com and did a search on C-750, then sorted the results by price. After that I looked at the stores ratings, then checked to see if they actually had the camera in stock. As of right now I still don't have the camera, UPS pushed the delivery date to tomorrow. I will give the company name, once I get the camera, and make sure it looks ok and includes accessories as described. After looking at the site for a couple weeks, I noticed the prices changed daily, and didn't always match the site the link takes you to.

I'll update you when I get the camera in my hands!

Dan, you may be right about the C-755, although is looks like it only has a few new features over the C-750.

Olympus Corporation (President: Tsuyoshi Kikukawa) is pleased to introduce five new digital cameras that comply with the PictBridge standard for direct printing via a camera-to-printer cable connection, with no computer required. A PictBridge-enabled CAMEDIA P-10 Digital Photo Printer will also be offered.

The cameras to be released include the CAMEDIA X-250, which is a standard model targeted at entry-level users, the µ-15 DIGITAL and µ-25 DIGITAL, which have sleek, compact, all-weather metal bodies, and the CAMEDIA C-745 Ultra Zoom and CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom, which offer 10x optical zoom. Joining the other popular models that have been introduced this year, these new cameras bring PictBridge compatibility to the Olympus digital camera lineup.

To commemorate shipment of the one-millionth camera in the CAMEDIA Ultra Zoom series, a special CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom Ebony Black model with a limited production run of 10,000 units will also be offered.

CAMEDIA C-745 ULTRA ZOOM & CAMEDIA C-755 ULTRA ZOOM :
10X OPTICAL ZOOM POWER
Two new additions to the CAMEDIA Ultra Zoom series, which - with its 10x optical zoom power- has proved extremely popular with sports fans and families with small children.

A 10x Optical Zoom Lens and a 4.0-Megapixel CCD for High-Quality, Ultra-Telephoto Shooting
Retaining the successful CAMEDIA Ultra Zoom formula of teaming a high-power zoom lens with a high-resolution CCD, the CAMEDIA C-745 Ultra Zoom is equipped with a 10x optical zoom lens and a 3.2-megapixel CCD, while the CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom is a equipped with a 10x optical zoom lens and a 4.0-megapixel CCD, for ultra-telephoto performance with superb image quality.
CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom: Super Zoom Mode for 14x Zoom at 2 Megapixels
Featured for the first time on the CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom, Super Zoom mode extracts 2 megapixels of image data from the central portion of a 4-megapixel image shot at 10x optical zoom, and delivers an image whose quality and magnification are equivalent to a 2-megapixel image shot at 14x optical zoom.

10x Zoom Power, Yet Compact and Easy to Carry
Both cameras have a body that measures just 107.5mm(W) x 68mm(D) x 66mm(H). So despite their high zoom power, they are exceptionally slim, compact, and easy to carry.

A Full Complement of Motion Video Functions
Featuring the broad motion streaming technology that was first introduced on the CAMEDIA C-730 Ultra Zoom, these cameras allow the full extent of available storage media memory to be used for motion video recording. As a result, users can record up to 112 minutes of full-motion video (when using a 512MB xD Picture Card), and enjoy both still and video shooting without the hassle of carrying a separate video camera.

A Wide Range of Accessories for Versatile Shooting Capability
Both cameras accept 0.7 wide-angle and 1.7 telephoto conversion lenses. When using the wide-angle conversion lens, users can shoot at 27mm (35mm film camera equivalent), and when using the telephoto conversion lens, they can boost the maximum optical zoom focal length of 380mm to 646mm (35mm film camera equivalent). When optical and digital zoom are used in combination (equivalent to 1520mm telephoto) with the telephoto conversion lens, the maximum focal length is extended to 2584mm – a truly amazing level of power to obtain from such a compact camera. In addition, accessories such as the FL-20 External Flash Unit and PT-018 Water Protector for underwater shooting to a depth of 40m can also be used, further expanding the cameras' shooting capabilities.

PictBridge Support
The CAMEDIA C-745 Ultra Zoom and CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom comply with the PictBridge standard for direct photo printing without the use of a computer. As a result, high-quality prints can be obtained simply by connecting the cameras to a PictBridge-enabled printer with the included USB cable.

Limited-Edition CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom Ebony Black Model
In response to the requests of numerous customers, and to commemorate the one-millionth CAMEDIA Ultra Zoom series camera to be shipped since the original CAMEDIA C-700 Ultra Zoom was introduced in April 2001, a limited production run of 10,000 Ebony Black CAMEDIA C-755 Ultra Zoom cameras will also be offered.

CB or Dan or any other 750 users

I know the c750 will do video, does it also allow you to use the full XD memory for video shots like the new 755 states or is it limited to like a 20 sec video. Also I haven't read where the it has sound with the video. Is this correct.

Thanks

The 750 will capture Movies in Movie Mode, and it will capture a Movie and fill an entire XD card in 1 clip if you desire to do that... Its not a timed clip so as much room as you have in storage you can film for.

Also it will capture soundd and auto adjust focus based on whats happening in the clip.

Well my camera showed up today from us1camera.com, one day late, but it was the fault of UPS. Everything looks as promised, all accessories are here and everything looks brand new with warranty card!

The Olycap showed up today, and I got a 256 MB XD card from Wal-Mart for $99. I have taken some macro shots, and I'm very impressed. Can't wait to try out the zoom on a Sunny day! Now I just have to find my 3 tripods, and get a good camera case for it. Hopefully I will have some good pics to post after the up comming weekend of deer hunting!

Thanks for all the tips and advice, time for me to practice, and read the manual!!

CB..Now you know real men don't read manuels. Hadn't we rather screw things up and spend lots of extra hours redoing what we could have done right the first time had we read those manuels
<

Congrats on the camera. I will have to check out us1camera. Thanks for sharing your info and glad everything was as promised. The Internet is great and can save you lots of money, but boy can you get screwed by some of these companies. Glad it all worked out

I think you will love the 750. One thing I did was to print out the complete manual....204 pages plus. I used the HP Deskjet 990 Cse and printed both sides of the paper. Excellent reference aid.

I mounted a monopod on the lift struts on my Challenger ultralight and attached the 750 to the monopod. I can reach out and operate the camera from the cockpit. I have taken some really neat movies of flying along the beach (watching the bikinis). Another interesting clip is flying the pattern at the airport and landing. The only prerequisite is the air needs to be fairly calm.
