Went on another hunt on a private ranch near Paso Robles this past weekend and once again the guide was able to get me on a hog. The original plans included a party of five but the other four backed out at the last minute (lesson learned/get deposits!!) This left me with a good opportunity to get my son out on his first hunt ever so he and I headed out Friday for a weekend of hog hunting with Jeep in tow. After a Friday evening with no success we got up Saturday morning to find my son suffering from a stomach flu. he tried to stick it out but after the morning hunt he realized it wasn't going away anytime soon so he took the Jeep and went home. Now it's just me and two guides......they were not happy about the turnout to say the least but they still gave me a great experience. Hogs were moving really early and on Sunday morning we spotted two groups moving through the ranch well before shooting light, finally at around 10:00 we spotted a lone boar moving across a hill at about 100yds and was able to drop him into a steep canyon. Here is a few pictures of the hog and recovery. Got my fill of pork in the freezer now it's time to turn my thoughts toward turkey season!
