Arrowslinger, your new nickname is going to be "bullet tosser" if you keep posting those types of photos. That pig looks like she's seen better days. Believe me, I do enjoy the smell of gunsmoke from time to time as well.

A lot of time bowhunting seems more like "Catch and Release"

I keep the "bullet tossing" to a bare minimum....but i've got to use that gun every now and then to justify keeping it. Shot 'er in the low leg/brisket, had to wrestly her a bit w/ the knife...the muzzle break keeps me from taking any follow up shots, have a BOSS CR (no muzzle break) on order.

Yeah, unfortunately i've "released" a couple pigs & deer w/ my bow....had one whitetail buck at 12 yards, pass thru, but never found 'em....still haunts me.

I can never explain to someone who does not bowhunt how tough it is to take an animal sometimes. I have had more bulls at 15 yards that I could not draw my bow back on in fear of being seen.

Any animal with a bow is a true trophy. Don't get me wrong I'll shoot a gun when needed but the satisfaction from my bow kills far exceeds that from a gun.

As bowhunters our woodsmanship needs to be at least 10X better than a rifle hunter in many cases.

Where the rifle hunt ends, the bowhunt begins. I brought my rifle spring blackbear hunting early this year because i had just got another bow. I spotted large bear at 517 yards ended up getting to 89 yards before deciding not to kill it. Had my bow been ready, it would have been pursued. I could not bring myself to end it with a rifle. Got some good video though...

we need to remind these California boys to bring their still cameras as well. If they can take decent photo we might be able to put them in the Outdoor Chronicles with the hog story we are hoping write about our dominating hunt in the hills.

Well, i just found the my new hunting spot at Chopper's...it's now called the triple-double secret spot, seems to be a staging area for the hogs before they enter the fields at night...trails everywhere, rooting, scat...everything ya need surrounded by thickets and as far as i know...no one hunts this particular spot. It will definately get my attention in a couple weeks.
Saw a buck this past wkend at Choppers that was already to the end of the ears...nice split forks and should be plenty tall by the end of the growth cycle. Also damn near ran over bobcat, had a badger 5 steps from the truck, saw twin fawns that where days old, and a nice fat white striped hog. We got some things set up for the upcoming hunt that should benefit all.

The grass is getting brown, my desert shadow camo should help.

I have an idea that would help build some character for the video.

We need to get some footage of the california team introducing themselves and why they think thay are the team to beat during this competition. We can do the same for Oregon.

It would be nice to build a little bit of a story instead of just all the california team watching our kill shots.

Sounds good to me Wil...except that last part
<

My toughest decision is where to hunt?

Secret Spot- 2 kills there
Double Secret Spot- where Pigzilla lives
Triple-Double Secret Spot- new spot, but darn good!
Nipple Hill- Pigs crest the hill every mornin' & evenin'

Ah, can't wait

I think your under estimating our ability to cover A LOT of ground. Also our secret weapon (Crown Royal). Once you guys get drunk and tell us how much you love Oregon and wished that you lived here... That's when the maps and highlighters come out.

I hit the local 3-D range yesterday to make sure my arrows are flying exactly where I intend them too - directly into the boiler room!

<

Oh yeah, i gave up drinking yesterday....no more crown for this kidd! But if you bring me a 1.75, i'll start back up again.
<

I just flipped a quarter...the secret spot wins!

havent seen your car??? either it got stolen, or your divorced and your ex took it for a ride with her new BO or your mentally retarded and forgot where you parked it...

I am hoping for the last option - we fair very well when hunting against the handicapped

Franklin, you're thinking of the wrong spot...what you call the triple secret spot is actually the double secret spot, there's a triple-double secret spot, but i just found it sunday...so that's not it. You could be thinkin' of the Nipple Hill, but that's a far walk & no trail to it. So send me the GPS coordinates and i'll give it a look for ya.
<

The hunt starts the mornin' of June 23rd..
<

Wil, my car "hit" a "road hazard"....i'll show it to ya in a couple weeks.

From the notes we took while down there - I think we have an idea of the "Triple Nipple" spot. Shay and I found an area that was completely torn up from rooting activity while there.

There were no boot tracks, quad tracks, horse tracks whatever when we found this spot. We've got it saved on the GPS - Guaranteed its not an area a scared little californian would go - not even the meanest baddest gang banger...

The tripple double secret spot may be near the triple nipple spot but could be closer to nipple hill whiich causes the shadow to the Secret Spot which is directly one mile as the crow flies toward the double secret spot...
<

Lets not foget the you know what oak spot where you can see all of these spots including the dog named spot. All you need is green eggs and ham for breakfast and this hunt will be complete....does everybody have an idea now where the CA team will be piling up the piggies...
<

Good luck to all...as Wil said, I think an introduction profile of all the hunters and the equipment they are using would be good...

Good hunting
