Here is a recap of the animals that were captured on video.

Chopper - 1 pig killed

CA -

Cecil - 1 pig killed
Pat - 1 pig killed, 1 pig missed
Kirk - 1 hit pig
Skeeks - 2 pigs missed

OR -

Wil - 1 pig killed, 2 missed, 1 hit
Tim - 2 pigs hit, 1 hit with shay's 2nd kill
Jody - 2 pigs missed, 1 coyote missed (Coyote was a tough shot, through a bunch of limbs, no range finder, but the coyote ducked the arrow. Pretty amazing footage)
Shay - 2 pigs killed

So if my recollection is correct, we had 19 arrows shot on film. This will make a great video.

Not to mention the additional stuff:
Wil and Tim calling in a coyote to 10 yards, and not able to get a shot. Beautiful sunrises, and sunsets, monster bucks were also caught on tape. Also some squirrel shooting. Plus much more

Thanks again

Great job everybody!
Thanks to those that kept us updated.
Congrats to the Oregon team.

Chopper, you stated that there were a total of 7 hogs taken.
Were some kills not counted towards the tally b/c the kill, follow up, etc was not caught on film?
Just curious.

Again, Gret job everybody.

Gyopo, the answer to your question is "yes"

The rules were established before hand to make sure wqe got good video footage.
The complete hunt had to be filmed with stalk, shot, recovery and follow up. There were a couple that did not meet all the requirements, therefore they were not counted.

I've hunted w/ plenty of folks, but the OR team was top notch....these dudes are real hunters & good guys
<
. Congratulations to them for a fine hunt and getting this competition organized.

I would like to offer my sincere appologies to the state of CA for crippling the winning hog and letting it get away
<
, what an idiot....you'll have to see the video, but a big boar at 24 yards broadside is what i'd call a "freebie"...well, i hit a bit high/right and for those that know....that pig will live to see another arrow.

I had 10 pigs over the entire weekend w/in 30 yards, but was only able to send an arrow towards two of 'em.....both times Saturday afternoon. To be honest, i was starting to get a bit worried, the tripple nipple, nipple hill, and the secret spot just didn't have any pigs...but pigig and myself saw pigs in the double secret spot on 3 occations.....so that's where we went saturday night and that's where i hit the boar.

Next time you go hunting, take another guy w/ ya and have him try to record your hunt....it'll make you appreciate the video's you see and the great camera work, Shay, Will, Tim (the pig whisperer), & Jody (the barber,'cause he just nicked 'em) did on this upcoming video.

I'll post up a couple stories of the pigs i almost got, the one i missed, and the monster i hit.......but what a great hunt, 10 hours hunting & 4 hours sleeping isn't easy.......but one hellofa good time.
<

Also, thanks to Chopper for being a great host and allowing me the opportunity to be on Team CA......and to LureDiver, it's go time

A.S.

Are you in Portland? How do you like the rain? It seems like it is all it does around here.
It was great hunting with you and the rest of CA.

Us Oregon boys realize how lucky we are that ArrowSlinger didn't get that boar. He is right, it was the winning pig, and would have sealed the deal for CA.
But you know what? Who cares about the competition, I would have loved to seen him tag that bruiser. It was good footage, and a good pig. And nobody wants to see a wounded animal. But that is the name of the game sometimes. You hate to see it, but it happens.

I know we had our opportunities to score some points (Jody Cyr)

But we didn't connect on some "freebie" shots. But that is hunting.

I'm off for the night.

Later

for the CA boys - If you can post your stories I would like to use them in the article. I know AS has some good stuff and I think PIGIG could probably as some words too.

If you have any photo's let me know and I'll get you my email address to send them my way.
Maybe next fall we should do an elk hunting competition up here??

One week, camp out and hunt the elk during the rut??? Or maybe a spring turkey hunt. That would be fun. I know a guy who has a few tips on hunting those animals anyway - I think he has a video coming out soon too.

Hey Will
i think we could make a great video of an elk hunt, most of my life i have wanted to make hunting videos and this first one, and it was a blast I see no difference shooting with film or an arrow. Let me know and Pm me I can give you a couple of stories of our footage. you have my email address.

Also can I link your site to mine I am changing a lot of things and would like to get SMP outdoors listed.

There's been a lot of ribbin', but it seriously sounds like you Oregon guys are a great bunch. I'd hunt with you any ol' time, if AssShooter says you're OK.

Wil, drop me a note about your mag sometime. I'd like to learn a bit more about it, and talk about what kind of content you're looking for.
