Seems someone didn't recover their beast.

Well, being neighborly and all, we'll take care of "wall placement" for him

Yes, a trophy elk! Too bad I didn't arrow him

After being hit up for $75 at Game and Fish (I had to "purchase" the rack from the State of New Mexico) the skull and horns are now legally mine.

Bill~ The curse is DEAD! This is just "somebody's" way of showing me what is in the future!!! (that is my story and I'm sticking to it).

Now if I can only "stumble" upon a LARGE bearded BEAST of a turkey
<

Anyway, off to the taxidermist for a European Mount for homer...then on to the "Wall of Honor."

No Sir, not a bit. Not a mark on the rack...the rest of the bones had a mark or two :)

Excellent! Thanks for providing the "intact" picture too. Not a bad deal for $75 smackaroonies.

According to law in New Mexico, elk (and their subsequent carcass and bones) are State property. Even though you find the bones or horns, you are NOT authorized to TOUCH them, legally, until the Department of Game and Fish shows up at the scene and declares (with their extensive training and crystal balls) "no fowl play" is afoot.

Once that little "box" is checked "fair market value" is what you will be charged for your find. And as it was put to me, "The really BIG racks raise quite a storm" with the investigation.

Pull from that statement what you will, but as my experience has taught me...be prepared for a microscope analysis. Suffice is to say that if my fourteen year old son wasn't with me, things might have gone a little differently.

"Ummm excuse me Officer...are we having sex?"

"No? I didn't think so...because nobody I'm NOT having sex with talks to me like that. Why don't you stick your badge, gun, AND those fancy horns up your a**. Need some help?"

BUT, my son was with me, so I went along with the 50 million questions as if I/we had did something wrong.

I realize they deal with the "dirty" side of the coin a majority of the time, but I was NOT happy with their "You need to prove to me you are law abiding" line of questioning.
