OK guys I have to ask. Please tell me what you know about these elk and their hiding spots. I've all ready corresponded with several JHOers and they have been more than eager to help out. I'm looking for all of the info I can get. I'm sure there are a lot of guys (like myself) that travel through the Owens Valley with binos and a spotting scope. By the time I hit Big Pine my wife usually says, "You've seen enough elk, lets go". Any info would be appreciated. I have a couple scouting trips planned. I'm hunting the whole season and plan on hunting the biggest bulls. E-mail me if that's better for you. I will share all I learned when you guys draw!! Thanks, Ed F

Hey BOWHUNTR, e-mail me and I can tell you what I know. My partner and I drew Bishop Bull tags in 96 and did quite a bit of scouting. Took two nice bulls. We were hunting the area between Big Pine and Bishop.

Thanks Bighorn, all ready chatted with him and going to pick his brain some more. I can't get this Tule elk hunt off my mind. I'm so pumped that I'm doing a one day scouting trip next week. I'm 4 1/2 hrs from Bishop, and that's the north end of the zone. I can't even get excited about my other hunts. I have a lot of work to do for my Nv hunt. It'll be here before ya know it. Thanks to everyone and keep it comming. Ed F

Bowunter,

PM when you get a chance. I live off the 91 & Weir Canyon so not too far from you. I still have my topos and scouting info from my hunt in Lone Pine so it looks like you just may have the whole area covered.

Hey ED, if you are ever in the South Corona HOME-DEPOT, I work in building materials, stop in and say 'Hi'. I'm the one with the camo hat, or ask for Rick. I look forward for any opportunity to get my mind away from work

Scott congrats to you too. My tag allows me to hunt all of the Owens Valley elk zones. I'm familiar with the Tinemaha zone and you'll have no problem finding the elk. Because your hunt is late, it's going to be hard to find a bull with antlers intact. Good luck on your hunt. Ed F

Ed I have a buddy that lives in Bishop he says it should be no problem to kill an elk even with a bow. He says there are plenty of bulls. I hope he's right for both of our sakes. Sierrahunter good luck let me know how you do maybe you can point me in the right direction. I plan on scouting by flying the zone but it won't be until after your hunts are finished. Congrats and good luck to both of you and take lots of pictures.
