Talked to a buddy who was at FHL a couple weeks ago. One bowhunter took a huge hog that weighed over 200 lbs. dressed. 3 inch cutters. Area 11.

Supposedly he had just driven in and when he got out he saw the hog and missed it with his 1st shot. He then got closer and whacked it.

A quick check of the skull and they said it would make P&Y.

Anybody know the bowhunter?

Wow, scary beast. Don't know the guy. I also didn't know P&Y entered Hogs. I'd love to see that mount.

Sounds like a nice hog! Spectr17 is most likely referring to the California Bowmen Hunters Recod Book which scores and records wild hogs taken by means of archery. You are correct that Pope & Young does not recognize wild pigs. We sure do at CBH though and if the person wants it entered, contact me and I'll arrange to have another measurer close to the hunter score the hog after the 60 day drying period. If not, find out the hunter and post a photo. I love looking at huge boars.

BTC:

To have an animal scored and entered into the CBH Record Book all you have to do is locate a measurer near you (I can help with that). He will have you fill out the appropriate harvest report and fair chase affadavit and preferably an in-field harvest picture. After meaurering the skull and teeth, you'll have a $10.00 entry/processing fee, and it's that simple. If you're not a CBH member, you can join for $25.00 a year. You'll receive the monthly newsletter and receive discounts on 3D tournaments.

If you would like to have the current record book and see if it's what you want to do, I believe you can still order from the their website at www.cbhsaa.org. You can also locate a measurer near you on this website and set up a time to have your trophy scored. Hope it helps.
