Two charged in killing of massive bull elk

EMPORIUM -- Two Fayette County men have been charged with unlawfully taking of game or wildlife for allegedly killing a massive bull elk near the Clinton-Cameron county line in 2000.

Charges were filed Wednesday against Jacob A. Fisher, 21, of Layton, and a 17-year-old, whom authorities did not name because of his age. If convicted, each could face up to $800 in fines and could lose his hunting and trapping privileges for up to three years. They also could be charged up to $10,000 to replace the elk.

The two killed an elk weighing more than 800 pounds and with antlers spanning more than 6 feet, authorities said. It was believed to be the largest bull in the Pennsylvania herd and had lived 11 years.

Fisher is a student at West Virginia University. His attorney, Richard Bower, did not immediately return a phone call Thursday from The Associated Press.

They're gonna have to pay replacement costs ($10,000). With an outside antler spread of more than six feet, this particular elk officially scored at 406 7/8 on the Boone & Crockett scale, and would have ranked in the top 30 for American elk in the non-typical antlers category (according to the 1999 Boone & Crockett "Records of North American Big Game" book).
. I'll try and dig up the picture that was in the local paper. I live about 60 miles from where this animal was killed and i really hope these guys get some jail time along with no PA hunting license and pay lots of $$.
Here is a pic although its in Black and White and kinda small
