****SD wild pig removal ALTERNATIVE ****

Here's a thought I've been working on over the weekend.

1. Lets get a group together say about 10-20 hunters with as many pig tags as they can afford in their pocket.

2. We coordinate into small groups of 4-5 hunters.

3. Each group scouts a SPECIFIC area based on info collected of possible pig areas I have accumulated in researching this subject - also we will discuss this as a group.

4. Who ever finds the pigs relays that info to the other groups and the JHO PIG ERADICATION 2011 begins.

5. I have about four decent areas to start looking in. If we get at least 12 people I think we could cover a lot of ground.

I think this would be more effective than one group or a solo hunter trying to hunt these pigs. This would be a challenge, but if we can cooperate together I think we could find some sweet spots and start to get after 'em in large numbers.

This is a summary of my basic plan. I think it could be very effective, once populations are located.

Lets use the PM feature to discuss any further details of the eradication.

IF YOU ARE INTERESTED IN BEING PART OF THIS GROUP, SOUND OFF!

Simply put, I'm in. I got the time and the motivation.

Let's be careful to not let feds benefit from all our time and expenses spent in woods. No intel to governmental agencies or employees of said agencies.:mooning::hog chewing:

API: Five hunters were killed while hunting wild pigs in San Diego today when the group surrounded and opened fire on a herd of hogs slated to be eradicated by the Federal officials. At least one of the hunter's was injured when the herd ran his way, nearly trampling him to death. A spokesman for the Dept. Of Fish & Game said they are considering revising California regulations that currently do not require hunters to wear blaze orange.

My wife got me a bottle of Gran Patron for dad's day and I intend to enjoy it poolside after using my Cabelas Gift cards.

Hey Kurt...we are definatly going the 24th and 25th, last chance to fill my tag before July. Have not seen any pigs the past couple times (been twice now), but I figure I have zero chance if I just stay home.......so gotta get out there and do it. I am more than happy to join the group that Badbuckfever is putting together and go out as much as I can with them too.....You are more than welcome to join us

I am also interested as I am unfamiliar with public land in SoCal. Let me know what the plan is and I will inform my wife. I would like to be able to hunt closer to home when I get the itch. I have my 2010 pig tag and my 2011.

Sent PM to all 11 on the list.

Lets shoot for the JUNE 24-26 weekend. This will be our first group hunt.

Are pig tags issued from July to June 30 (like the hunting license) or what? Never bought one before. Where's a place to get some in/near Orange county?

I'm going to hit Turner's first thing tomorrow, see if I can grab a tag or two (will be funny to see the look on the clerk's face when I say 'yes, 2010!')

BadBuckFever; thanks for the PM. Let us know what the Cuyamaca folks say. Would love to bounce around some topos with spot/stalk ideas.

This is going to be frikking epic :)

Put me in Coach...but first, I gotta couple of errands to do...

I'm already hitting the LPNF this weekend, as I'm flying solo until the evening of Father's Day. On the 24th, I'm white water rafting on the South Fork of the American River, near Sacto, so that's out. :smiley_green_with_e:hog chewing:
But after that, I can devote a 3 day weekend to a pig hunt down south. Put me down for that second hunt. I got a GPS with TOPO maps for the area, so we can start logging in Waypoints, and get a lot of areas covered. I used to mountain bike on Mt. Palomar, but I never did much else (wasn't hunting back then). Don't forget the Julian area... Sounds like fun in the sun this summer.:JHO rocks: I will send a PM later, with contact info.

I want to get in on some of the bacon action too. Been down to CLN a few times with no luck. Have seen some signs though. Already got my piggy tag ready to go.
