actually there are 2 turkeys in that shot.. love the look of that central tex scrub too. awesome capture txbow.. also the axis, those are some nice shots.. and man those are some nice ones!.. you have free range axis on your place?? awesome.. looking forward to taking my first axis one of these days.

what lens(es) were you using for those?

Thanks guys!

The Axis deer are free ranging on the 2000+ acre spread. They generally stick to the river bottoms. We dont have permission to hunt them at this point, and that is KILLIN me. I had 1 of those at 30 yards early in the weekend. I will have to post the video when I can get it captured.

All of those were taken with my trusty Canon 70-300 IS USM. Starting next weekend, hopefully I will be using a 100-400 IS 'L' for the rest of the season. I cant wait for the fast foucs, sharpness, and extra reach. I printed out the Axis picture and its going to be on my wall in the office as soon as I can get a frame for it.

Kevin, You're gonna love the 100-400!! So far, it's my favorite purchase. Next one is going to be 70-200 f/2.8 IS L, but that will take some saving.
