Pig Calls

Has anyone ever used a Pig call and what was you're experience with it? A buddy of mine and I are looking into getting one but would like some experience's with them before picking one up.

I tried a squealer call once. Bought it from Bass Pro Shops in Manteca for around 20 bucks.

I found it similar to a duck call. It wasn't as simple as I thought because it involved varying levels of lung output combined with hand muffling.

Didn't get any noticeable reactions from it and haven't put any more time in with it.

Ok so in you're use of it you had not luck or no noticeable reaction to it.

I made a grunt tube many years ago by mixing a modified duck call, (I use to make them) and a small elk tube. Actually sounded really good! Just like a large hog grunting happily while feeding. Anyways..... I used to use it when I would work in close in noisy dry condition, and it would calm them back down if I made any noise they picked up on. Never called in any, but it saved me from getting busted on more then one occasion. I've killed two hogs because it made them relax back down after I was heard trying to get within bow range. Not sure where it is now, but I think I'm ging to look for it again......:hog chewing:

I have tried them on hogs before without any positive response, they did not even look up. But they work great on coyotes...

does anyone have any suggestions on how to make them or where to pick one up? I figure if not for pigs then ill used them for something else.

You can get them from any outfitter like Cabelas, Basspro or other source. To make one would be the same as any other exterior reed call/ bite call. Even some turkey diaphram calls can make the same sounds...

Can you tell me which one you got. There is TONS of coyotes out here and would not mind taking a couple with it.

I like cougars they usually buy me all the drinks, so i dont really mind them to much LOL
