I may be heading to Caldwell, TX next month for a wild pig hunt. Anyone familar with this area, and the pig populations in that area?

kp.. I am familiar with the Caldwell area but never hunted there. It is between Austin and College Station and is a really nice area. If it is true to Texas, you can count on pigs being there. I dont think you can go anywhere in this great state any more without finding pigs.. Are you going on a guided hunt??? If so, who with???

Right now, we're planning on driving from the Phoenix area to my wife's cousin's ranch in Caldwell. He will be our guide for the hunt, and will be hunting himself.

What type of pigs are out there, and how large do they get?

Should be your run-of-the-mill feral hogs.. No floppy ears unless it is some sort of high-fence operation.. We are supposed to have some russian boars around, but now sure about down in that area.. They can get pretty big. You should see anything from piglets up to around 300lbs.. Sounds like it should be a good time!!
