So sound off, who all's in for the mud turnament...oops I meant pig hunt next weekend up on Tejon. I have been watching the weather and talking to a few friends up there, sounds like it is going to be a whole lot of mud and snow. If there's any one out there that will be on the south side with me, I have a birch(silver) chevy shortbed 4x4, stop by and say hi. Wouldn't mind meeting a few of you guys from these forums.

Take it easy.

btrebil, I'm not going in March, but I went at the beginning of Feb. on the south side and had a blast. Two of the four of us got a pig. We did put in the miles though. We did a lot of hiking and saw lots of pigs. Good luck with your hunt and let us know how you do.

Also, welcome to the fourm.

Well guys, one more week....I jsut can't wait, this will be my first time out on Tejon and I am really looking forward to it. Sorry to rain on everyone's parade, but we will be seeing some rain and snow on Friday, so hopefully we can get the rain out of the way and have a good weekend. Well, hope to see you all there.

Hey Bearclaw, I'll be joining you with the bow. What type of broadheads you using? This is my first trip up there as well, and my first trip bow hunting. My wife just bought me a new bowtech 80lb compound, I am shooting magnus 4 blades, think those will work good? Look for us at the campground, we will be at the first check in meeting at 830, then set up and ready to go for noon. Good luck to you.

I am shooting 125gr slick tricks, thos Magnus should be great, as long as they are flying true, and the shot is good, piggie will die.

we are planning on hitting the 0830 orientation as well, and then setting up camp unless they release us to hunt early, which I heard is possible.

as far as snow, we got plenty of warm stuff, hopefully I get to warm my fingers while fieldressing a porker, but otherwise I will just look to have a good time and relax in my new life living in Kalifornistan.

I am still trying to run down some chains for the truck, I am sure I will need them.

Definitely gonna want those chains. I'd also recommend bringing pack frames, and plan on heading into the hunting areas from the main roads in the bottom. You can get some great hunts that way, but you'll have to pack out your meat.

Leave a couple for us. Your hunt is the last POR before the JHO hunt in May.

Hey Bearclaw, where you located? Truck Accessories and Conejo Offroad in Thousand Oaks have all kinds of chains, I picked up some for my 35's over there for 99 bucks. Hopefully you wont get to stuck with out them, but between my chevy and my buddies winched up wrangle, we should be able to help you out.

Speckmisser, definitely let you know how the hunting goes, and I'll make sure to let at least one live for you in May.

I sure all you guys heard about the freeway closing down last weekend. Good chance it could happen again.

I saw some nice pigs and some decent sign this fall when I was bird hunting. I havent been out there in a few months, TOOOOOO slippery for me

4 West will have my two sets of chains here by tomorrow.

I am in Santa Barbara, didn't know about the place in Thousand Oaks, but 4 west took care of me with the Ice Breakers so I should be good, unless UPS drops the ball, but they have two days to get em to me, shouldn't be a problem.

Good luck y'all. It's killing me not being there!!! Have fun. Be safe. Don't do the dirt roads if it's wet. I don't think I would even chance the steep roads in the snow. Those roads are off camber, and gravity will take effect.

Wow! If One Track is recommending cautioun, take heed.

Seriously those roads are bad enough dry. Be smart out there. There is no room for mistakes or a lapse in judgement.
