I know there was a posting about this place back in August about Pig Point Ranch in Lake County. The thing is, my dad, my brother, and I have it booked for March 27th. I wanted to know if anyone has hunted at this ranch and how the experience was. All the info will be appreciated.

Thanks much.

Hogfest,
I hunted with Mike at pigpoint in Nov 05 and took a 100 lb hog. PM me with your phone #(and a good time to call) and I will tell you about my hunting experience at his ranch.

Hey JD1,

If you've got an experience with an outfitter, good or bad, please feel free to share it here and/or in the JHO Guide Review section. Be honest and provide details as appropriate. At the very least, what did you like, dislike, and how much did you pay?

This is the kind of information that a lot of people come here looking for.

To ALL,
I hunted with Mike last year. I spoke with him several times during the weeks leading up to my hunt. Mike is a very nice guide and does everything to make it a good hunting experience. Mike did mention that he raises "wild hogs" to stock his own ranch and sells hogs to other ranches. What he did not mention during our phone conversations is that he has a fenced in area where he has hogs penned up. He also has a sow penned up in a small pen at the top of his property. The wild hogs come off of cow mountain and try to mate with his penned up sow. I met him at his house, then drove to his ranch and rode around on his quad looking for fresh sign. We did see lots of fresh tracks that morning, with most of the hunting being spot and stalk. After several hours of hunting he gives you the option to continue hunting or take a pig out of his fenced in area. I am not very good at estimating area, so I could not tell you how big the fenced in area is. The hunt cost $300 and includes gutting and skinning the hog. This was just my experience at pigpoint ranch. I did finally take a 100 lb hog.

Hope this helps yall

BE SAFE...............

JD 1, thanks for the info as it is much help. It was my brother who was in contact with Mike, so I wasn't too sure of the specifics. Anyways, my brother did mention that, if towards the end of the day, if we didn't get anything than we can take some of the pigs that he's got pinned up. Anyhow, I don't think it's too bad of a deal for $300.

A friend and I hunted this ranch when it first opened. Same scenario, you check the outlying area for hogs and if you want you can go into the enclosure and take one of those hogs. It was our first hog hunt and my friend did spook something that was near the single penned up hog. The enclosure is about 20 acres we were told. I'm not sure. It was steep though. There was an article in WON about the operation right before we went. We hunted with Terry Matheny (sp?) out of Lakeport then. It was ok but all in all, a canned hunt.
