Pig Point Ranch

i was wondering if anyone here has hunted or has known anyone who has hunted pig point ranch near clear lake. If so did they like the hunt. I'm going this thursday to hopefully stick one with the bow if not the bow hopefully the rifle. any info would be hepful, thanks.

Pretty much a canned hunt. You hunt on the outside of a 20 acre enclosure to start and if there are no pigs around you get to go into the enclosure to get your hog. Went there with a friend the first year they were in operation and after a favorable article in WON. We got our pigs but I wouldn't say it was very challenging. Their theory is that they only have sows inside the enclosure and when in heat will atract pigs from the surrounding area. Worked when they first opened from what the article said.

I hunted there several years ago. As Kentuck mentioned, you hunt outside the enclosure and if you don't harvest anything he gives you the opportunity to hunt in the enclosure. He has a penned up sow at the top of the property and wild pigs come down off the mountain and try to mate with the sow. Pigs also try to get into his enclosure. His hunting method is to ride around on the quad and spot/stalk the ridge. If you don't see any pigs he has you walk the perimeter of the enclosure in hopes of jumping a pig. If you are still no successful he allows you to take one from the enclosure. Hope this helps.

How was your hunt at Pigpoint?

Hey jd1,
I ended up killing a 225 lbs boar with the rifle. I tried with the bow for about four hours but all the pigs i got to were with in shooting range but its so thick i couldn't get a good shot. But i ended getting one out of the enclousre which was not what i wanted to do. The hunt was ok but its not something i would do again. The guide was really nice and worked hard for me to get my pig.
