Just took a look at one of the two pig tags I purchased last week and it is only good till 06/30/16? are all Pig tags just good for 4 months from purchase or is 6/30/16 just the end of the hunting year?

July through June is the hunting year and the pig tags are valid for the hunting year they are purchased for, similar to your hunting license.

They expire when your hunting license does, which is on 6/30, the end of the hunting year.

I see no reason for them to expire since the season is year round, but I am sure they make more money that way so its a moot point to argue with them.

It's consistent with the license year. You actually think they should be valid indefinitely? Like the forever stamp? It could be worse, our licenses could expire on Dec. 31 each year and then we'd need two licenses for each hunting year (i.e. waterfowl season crosses years).
