Two weeks ago, i was hunting in sonoma county. It was very quiet and sign was sparse in areas that usually have lots of sign. Just as i was thinking this rainy winter may have decimated the birth of pigs, deer, and other mammals, i spotted a heard of 50 or so pigs about 800 yards away: 12 huge boars, another dozen sows, and the rest tiny piglets and about 20 pounders. Im hoping that this will be the norm this year and not a crappy population due to the weather. That was all i saw in three days of hunting.
Good new for hunters but not the state. I love that the pigs are here but I know some ranchers that would like to see every last one dead. Crazy debate.
