Good morning fellow hunters! Hope everyone is ready Xmas. So does anyone know, hunted, scouted old ridge rt in los padres national forest? I'm in la visiting my dad and I'm planning on taking that road this evening when I go back to Bakersfield. I am not asking for your gold mine spot just some good info. God Bless to every one here.

Chayito,
The road has is locked on both ends of Old Ridge Route.
Pigs? I have never seen any sign only heard of rumors of hunters harvesting hogs.
Good luck

I heard that rumor years ago. If there is any truth to it (which I seriously doubt), they haven't taken hold and expanded their numbers. Now considering that there are pigs on the other side of the 138, it's possible that they have crossed the 138. However, much of the area is much to choked with brush to effectively hunt. I would venture to guess that if they are there, in the dry months their territory is limited. If I were to spend any time scouting it, I would spend my time on the east to west ridge and scout it toward the 138 and the private property. About 15 to 20 years ago the Warden that worked that area lived close by; if the current Warden lives or spends any amount of time in the area, he or she may be a treasure trove of information.

With that said, I'd say you would be far better off spending some time a FHL.

Thanks BubbleHide, I really appreciate it. I will scout and glass that area maybe ill be lucky enough to come across that warden. I would love to spend time at FHL more often but since I don't own a truck it's hard for me. Maybe ill trade in my 2011 Chevy Malibu in or buy me an economic truck but not now until I'm lucky enough to find a job.
