My cousin, uncle, father, and I headed out for coalinga yesterday morning on some blm land. The blm land is steep and some areas are private but if you know the area and are willing to have some long walks up hill there are some pretty nice areas. We walked 2 miles up hill in some brushy country and when we got to the top where it cleared out me(17 years old) and my cousin(19 years old) decided we would sit(tired from walk also bad choice) and wait while our parents made a little drive through a area with dense oak trees. While they walked they encountered a group of about 13 pigs and they each got a shot off and got a pig. that was the easy part the work had just began. here are some pictures

Uncle left, Dad right

Us posing with our parents pigs

how we had to pack it out

nice! that's the most uncomfortable way to carry a pig out by the way. Tie the legs together and wear it like a backpack, muuuuuuuuuuch easier

All those smiles says it all.

Hey I know that place. I think I met your uncle or dad at the parking lot long time ago. Just tell them the time their 4runner went off the side of the road at the parking lot and down into the ditch. Then it got winched out by a Warden. They will remember that. I'll catch you guys there again someday.

There's a lot of folks here in the central valley that favor the head for meat for tamales and the hooves for soups. But I think I would just cut them off, mark the position with gps, and tell them where to go and fetch them for themselves!!!

I remember when one woman asked me to save my trout fish heads for her so she could eat the eyes (her favorite) and use the heads for soup -- I was on a backpack trip and dumped them half way back up to the truck (figured the bears would like them just as much as her). I told the woman I slipped and the bag with the heads fell off the cliff.

Guess one persons delicacy is just another persons useless weight!!

Great job on the public land pigs guys!!!

think you might be thinking of other people because we never owned a 4 runner and we just started to hunt this area in the last few months

The 4runner may not have been your family owned, but a friend of relative of your dad and uncle. There were 6 guys in two vehicle on that trip and I'm sure two of the guys looks like your dad and uncle. Or you may be right and my vision just made you all look alike....hehe. Anyway I think you were still a baby back in 1994 when I met that group.
