Anyone know where I can purchase a roasted pig somewhere near Riverside ca???? I have a family get together saturday with approx 120 people and the previous plans for whom I was getting it fell through and now I'm not sure where I can purchase one. HELP:skeered::bag-on-head: I've already sent out the invites and have alot of people looking forward to it. Please any help or leads would be greatly appreciated.

Try XDhunter, here at JHO. Send him an IM.

Ya Eric was he one that was hooking me up. Great guy and I appreciate him helping. He had some planning issues and an Elk hunting trip come up and had to cancell. Sucks for me but I understand. Hell its an elk trip, I probably would cancell as well.

About 7 years ago a place I worked at got one from the 99 Ranch Market in chino hills. I don't know what the price was or if they still do it, but it may be worth a shot if it's not too far for you.

It's a bit of a drive from Hemet, but Kim Tar in Cerritos/Artesia it's on 183rd Street and Pioneer Blvd. It's a Chinese restaurant, they have BBQ pork, as well as roast duck, and entire roasted pig.

I think they have another sister store in Anaheim, on Euclid south of the 5 freeway. It's been years since I was in the one in Anaheim. I don't know if this one still exists, but it may be a little closer to you.

Try "Two Guys & a BBQ" if they can get it done for you.

Roasted Pig success

First of I want to say :JHO rocks:.
Eric ended up coming through with a couple contacts for the roasted :hog chewing:. Thanks Eric:toast-yellow:. Everyone at the party kept saying how great the pig tasted. I think it might even become something we do every year.

Thank you to all that posted potential prospects.

I've attached a couple iphone pics

You may want to invest in one of these La Caja China - my buddy has one and we roasted a 60lbs pig in it for a little sales event. Took 3hrs 45mins to cook and it turned out great with the skin all crispy. No holes to dig, uses charcoal...cook it skin down for 3hrs, flip it, slice the skin and cook it skin up...actually pretty cool system

Do you have any recipe to follow? I know of a place to get pigs in Burbank. So I'll plan on that. What about doing the same thing for a smaller wild hog? I've always just taken them apart after harvesting them right in the field. But thought about doing the whole thing.

Little nervous about the skin though... with those nasty tics and what not.

I don't have any recipes. I just picked the hog up complete ready to go.

I can get a recipe, but it's quite simple to brine a whole pig for 24-48hrs in a large cooler. I've had it brined with salt, pepper, rosemary, thyme, garlic, some hot peppers and then thrown some sliced oranges in..let it sit in ice water brining...when you buy a La Caja China they have a complete guide on how to cook it and if you follow it to the "T" it will come out superb...they recommend "no peeking" (lifting the cover off the box during the 3hrs...:pig-laughing:
