After all the rain, I was itching to go check trail cameras, check the springs, and check the roads up at my property. Last time I had been up there was christmas day, and there was rooting all over the top of the mountain. figured today was a great day to go take a walk with some rifles. just as we get to the top near the cabin, i see three pigs out of the corner of my eye in the brush about 25 feet away. they saw me at the same moment I saw them, and they took off. I had just enough time to cock the hammer back and take a shot with the old '94. caught a glimpse of them about 2 secs later but wasn't able to get a shot. I automatically started doubting the shot because it was a hurried shot, and the sun glare with the open sight. we soon found a good blood trail, which worked out great with all the fresh cold snow. tracked it for a while, then I hear my brother yell "oh $h!t!" and take a shot. he had crawled through some brush and came face to face with it. haha, i found him on his back just laughing about what had just happened.

it was a great crisp clear morning with perfect views of all the sierra. also first animal we've taken on the property, and on top of that I had been wanting to take a pig with the winchester for a while now. awesome morning for sure.

Very nice...that's a good harvest with the open sights. I reality, that's likely the best rig to have in the thick stuff. Short barrel and easy to aim...good job.
