Speckmisser, nice website! I enjoyed your essays and photos. I found your hunting tales not only interesting, but encouraging. Good job.

I also liked your write-up, Rocky. Nice hawg!

It sounds like all you guys had a great time. I’m beginning to think that a Pig-O-Rama is really worth the money. If I’m not overwhelmed by school (I should be in the middle of my Master’s thesis by then), I’ll have to join the JHP POR next Spring!

Rocky:

That was a great story with great pics. Congrats! I couldn't agree more, Tejon is an awesome place to hunt.

Rocky, Ron Gayer is the Hunt Coodinator on Tejon not the Game Manager. Don Geivet is the Game Manager.
Glad to help a fellow hog slayer in his time of need...

qdt - You don't think I'm going to give away all my secrets, do you? I gave out that great Hawg Hunting Tip!
<

elkron - updated my webpage. Was my slip-up a promotion, or a demotion? It's probably more fun to be the hunt coordinator than the game manager!

Speck - I haven't given up on the Land Cruiser yet!

rusman,

Judging from all I read, I think I'd opt for the truck behind instead of the passenger seat

. Your right though, great stories.

I was in the truck behind Speck and still had a pretty good pucker going when the sliding started. Nothing like Speck and Dilpxro had going though. I bet they're still picking foam out of the ol' caboose.

It did get a little scary in my truck after we had to strap it to the Jeep with the winch to keep it from getting dragged downhill. That big Dodge dragged BOTH of us about a foot and a half before my mudders dug in

and Roadmisser's truck got unstuck.

Hey Russ, Scott and I wish you'd been there too. Another set of hands on that sow sure would've been welcome.

Speaking of that, Chris, how long did it take you to get your hog to the road?

It was, purely, a scary experience. But it was all well worth the few minutes of terror for the freezer full of pork and the camaraderie we shared during the trip. Just wish it had been a day or so longer, so I'd have had at least one more night around the campfire.

Hi Speck..
Not really sure exactly how long it took me to get him out...I would have said it was a couple hours atleast, wasn't wearing a watch..but I would have said it was about 2:30 when I shot him.. and got to the road when I sparked you on the radio..the hardest part was when I shot him he was on a bank above the creek..upon being hit he fell off the bank and into the water in a big brush patch.. trying to wrestle him out of the water through the bushes and into a open area where I could check him out and gut him was an ordeal..got him gutted and just started sliding/rolling him toward the road..actually sliding him in the stream seemed better than trying to go around it..already wet and muddy so tried to take the path of least resistance. The big incline directly below the road was the next big hurdle ..I was starting to bottom out energy wise..but luckily..thats when I ran into the guys who gave me the ride. They helped me get him up that final bank.. the beers are on me if I ever run into them again.

Finally got around to developing the pix of my POR hog. Not the greatest pictures, since my tripod was broken and I had to use the tailgate of the truck as a mount. But you can probably get the idea.

Dang, OneTrack... you're onto my secret!

One of the nicest things about waking up that Sunday morning with my hog already hanging from a tree, was that I didn't have to put on those blasted heavy boots again!

Had time for a hot cup of coffee, some sausage and eggs, and dry street clothes ... and that made all the events of the day before (getting stuck, nearly going over the lip, dragging a hog for four hours, etc.) seem more worthwhile.
