New to the board with a question regarding special hunts near the Prado Dam, Corona / Chino Hills area. I had heard of special pig hunts with bow only that is through a lottery. Anyone have any info on this? Your help would be greatly appreciated.

I went out there once, scouted around some, and asked whomever I saw questions. No one knew of any pigs around the dam area and they knew even less about hunting the area. A little further up the Santa Ana River I spoke with a dairyman about pigs in the area and he said he's heard about them but never saw any. I asked if I could go out there and hunt the area. He said he would let me drive to the river and park on his property but he only wanted me to use archery in the area because it's so populated around there. I never looked into it any further because it didn't seem to be too promising. That was all about four years ago.

Thanks for the info... My friend did mention the whole postcard thing. It would be nice if it ever took place being so close to home.

At one time there was mention of a shotgun hunt for feral hogs in the Santa Ana River area so I was interested but Riverside County nixed it.San Timeteo Canyon has had pigs for years according to a police officer I knew who lived in Yucaipa ,another friend said he found pig tracks in and around the Loma Linda Dump and a lot of pigs were killed in or near the new PGA Training Golf Courses south of I 10 when they were being constructed by hired hunters,we tried to get in on the hunt but were told it was all taken .I found pig tracks in fields in San Timeteo Canyon.

It's true that the majority of San Timeteo Canyon is closed to hunting but there are a lot of pigs in the area. My freinds were the one's that hunted the golf course. Yes, dogs were used but only for two days. Only 2 hogs killed using dogs. Most of the hogs were killed at night with the use of a spot light. In one year there was over one hunderd hogs taken. The only reason they stopped the hunting is because golfers started to complain. There were a couple of hogs that were wounded and were running around. Still alot of pigs in that area !

Amarsh, just got back to this thread, thanks for the reply man. We went up towards King city and cut sign late in the afternoon but ran out of time to have an opportunity at a shot- that's the drill on public land DIY. Let me know if you have any luck anywhere i like a good story. Happy trails.
