I'm hoping and praying

we get some wet, nasty weather in the Cascades in the next few weeks. Heading in for the last 10 days of archery elk and a nice big dump of rain would just be the ticket! Cool it down, get those shrooms popping up, move the elk in and get the cows into a romantic mood.
Anybody have any success yet? My brother got out on the opening weekend, but it was

, not much fresh sign and nothing vocal. I hear they're coming into rut over on the east side though.

With the season being moved ahead a week this year the last week will be the time to be out there.I usually scout for bucks that week and the bulls are always hot then.

Buddy got into elk in the Santiam above Detroit. Said the bulls were yakking all night over the weekend. Talked with a guy whose group saw some decent bulls and smaller bucks out just north of Burns. Just too darn warm. Getting out for the high desert cow hunt this weekend. Wayy too many projects this year, no scouting done, told my buddy were scre#@ed, but he wants to go. Beats staying home and mowing

Sounds like this coming week should be picking up. Ah, rain, beautiful rain.

My bro's been out again and some other buddies and they got into a little more action (didn't score though). No bugling but they almost pulled in a spike. I expect the rut to swing into full gear in the next couple of weeks. Some guys I know stuck a couple of cows on the east side of the state during the opening and they said the rut was already on over there. Can't wait, I'm already having trouble sleepin'.
