Well guys and girls, It's that time of year again. Aweek from today most of you will smell like fish and be headed home. ....Sabrina is wide open and will have 4 or 5 boats for rent. You could float it in a tube, but don't have any holes in your waders or some very important equipment equipment might fail. The lake is still very low with water up on the dam only in the middle. The creek below Sabrina is running at 28cfs which makes for very easy fishing. The holes are loaded with fish mostly in the 10" range but I did see a few in the 14-18" range..... Intake 2 is wide open with some surface activity on the warmer days. Campground will be open. The pack Station owner said that he drove to North Lake on Monday but the gate might still be closed next weekend, I don't know. The road is open to South Lake which is very low as it is at this time every year. It is still covered with ice but there were blue spots allover it on Monday. The inlet had about an acre of open water. Yesterday it was covered with 4" of new snow.I believe that it will be open by Saturday especially if we have much wind. I would not go out on it even if it doesn't open up, but someone will. There is a little snow on the banks of the creek for the 1st mile below South Lake but below that you won't get your feet wet unless you jump in. Again like at Sabrina the creek is very low but will be well stocked. 4 Jeffery campground will be open. Rumor has it that he owens around Bishop will be well stocked starting tomoorrow with DFG fish and Alpers fish for both the opener and the days preceding it. If you fly fish, The river has been as good as it gets for the last month with small nymphs and midges. 20-30 fish days are not a big deal with a few 17 inchers.... Crowley has been open for almost 2 months so the fish have had plenty of time to grow....Farther north than that, I don't know.....hronk
