I headed down to visit some of my wife's family for an easter dinner this past saturday. There's some good deer country there and my wife and I (as well as her uncle) shed hunted in a field close to his house a few weekends back. I decided to leave early and have a quick walk through the field before dinner.

I had to drive past most of the field on the hi-way to get to the parking spot, and I ended up spotting a matched set from the truck while still driving. I pulled over and ran out to get them and found another one lying nearby as well...but never found anything on my 2 hour walk.

The next day my friend and I went to one of our regular spots, in an area we hadn't searched yet this year. I found a spike and a small 4 point within the first 20 minutes, then nothing the rest of the day (7 hours) . My buddy found a few nice ones though...actually I should say his dog found them. She's not trained at all for sheds, but has an interest in antlers. Corah ended up fining all three sheds to Dan's credit that day, and he would have missed all of them if she wasn't there.

One interesting thing to note is that Corah found the old one first (one that was frozen in the ground), Dan called me on the radio to come take some ATL's, and in the time it took me to walk over to him Corah had found another shed, but a fresh one. Both antlers found were off the same deer, but consecutive years and were only lying about 50 yards apart!

Good spot from the vehicle! Are you dealing with alot of competition for the sheds up there this year?? It seems weird seeing you on a cold streak, but hey some bone is definitely better than none. congrats and nice pics

Well there's always competetion up here, but that's not it....it was a wierd winter for deer. We had a good amount of snow that they should have been herded up, but it really just didn't happen. There were no large concentrations this year and no major food sources.

The deer were just scattered about....10 here 10 there....makes it a bit tougher. That and the fact that I'm concentrating on a different area this year that I'm still fairly new to... but now that the snow is starting to melt he numbers should go up! but even if they don't I'll still be happy with one ortwo here and there and some good hikes.

Well...I havn't updated in a while, although there hasn't been too much to report (until today). Last weekend I put 2.5 days in and only came up with 4 sheds. One pretty nice 4 point, and my dog Champ found his first of the year! Got snowed out last sunday...heavy wet snow sent us home early and I didn't get out again until today.

Today I decided to head back to one of my old faithfull spots, I had only been there once this year...in feb when there was still tons of snow. This area usually gets picked pretty hard by snowmobilers, but when I was there in february there wasn't much sign of snowmobile traffic.

So with all the snow gone now I headed out there today in hopes of cash'n in! I got a good early start on the day..jjst after sunrise and found this one 1/2 hr into the day. Notice the frost still on the antler!

The not long after...they just kept roll'n in and I had 10 sheds strapped to the pack before lunch!

It was early in the day so I decided to head back to the truck and drop of the first 10 sheds and have some lunch. After lunch I headed back out for the afternoon. The afternoon proved to be a bit slower than the morning but They were bigger. I found this heavy mule deer shed which was a match to one I had found in february.

Then a little while later I crossed a set of my tracks from the morning in the sand, and realized the terrain looked familair. At the point I crossed my tracks....my route in the AM took me north, so I decided to cross my AM trail and head south...I only went about 15 yards and found these....I was withing 25 yards of them in the AM but didn't see them because of the scrub and terrain.

I headed back out to the same spot yesterday, with a couple other shed hunters. We found 49 total sheds for the day between 4 of us, and I ended up with 17. My best for the day was a nice 70 inch 5 point.

Awesome finds pred.Nice faty 5 point.Keep em coming.

PS: Their is no International postage option when purchasing your shed video.I try to buy it, but it only charges me $5.00 instead of the required amount.
Did you have any luck trying my Email address? I don't think Max has had any luck with it.

Hey Taz, I'm having issues with my shopping cart right now...it's probably easiest just to send me $15.00 + $9.00 for shipping to sales@monarchimages.ca

What's your e-mail adress? I'll give you a shout.

Had a busy work week, but got some spare time on thursday evening, so I went to check out a new spot I had been thinking about. I heard there were a few elk around there, but once I started walking in the bush...there was a ton more elk sign than deer.

It's been as long as I can remember since I've found a elk shed...and I think I've only found a couple ever since I started shed hunting, but I was able to pick up two in a couple hours hiking in this new spot. The ATL's are only of the second shed.

62 sheds for the season!
