I might be up for that but, are you going to play with the big boys and bring out a rifle this time?

billrob firearms menu looks like this: bring all you toys if you can... you might want to play with all of them. There are special areas for archery only, special area for primitive etc., 22's for rabbit & tree squirrel Jesse's has got all the info on the website great maps & great information (Jesse personally has a wealth of knowledge on FHL), and you can check it out at fhl hunting fishing
you'll be fine on your application for FHL- they're only 10 days out.
Shot- we had a great time at the last one- you should come! 130,000 acres of the most awesome hunting ground on the planet-plus all of us- whats not to like?

I'm quite interested but have a question, do you need to have a annual permit for this or will a 2 day weekend permit allow you to hunt all 3 days? Thanks for any input. Also, how are the roads during that time of year 4X4 only?

PorkChopper,
Look at the top of this page and you will see a green band with all the menu selections. Click "Hunting Info and Columns", then click "California Hunting Info", then click "Fort Hunter Liggett" and all the necessary info on FHL is laid out for you and the maps on the training areas are downloadable. Don't forget your valid car insurance card and your current DMV registration slip. NO INSURANCE, NO DMV REGISTRATION SLIP.....NO ENTRY. Also the hunting info says "tree squirrels" NOT ground squirrels. Read the info carefully, especially Jesse's advice on staying on the paved roads or heavily graveled roads when the dirt roads are WET. You will get stuck even with a 4X4. 'Nuff said.

The 2 day permit works on a 3 day weekend hunt. Fort Hunter Liggett has a ten day waiting period after they receive your application. Please call me if you need any help getting thru the application process (or if you have any other quetions). (805)472-2922 Deedy or Karin. - I think Larrysogla pretty much covered how bad the roads can be if we get a bunch of rain, I'd like to add that there are walk-in areas available, and in most areas cell phones have reception at Liggett so if you do get stuck we'll come and get stuck with you trying to pull you out. Drive around those water puddles!
Porkchopper 5 cabins left sleep (3)= 15 spaces left! just call us and we'll reserve a spot for you.
Feathersnhoof - you gonna come and get one this time so I can have a dead animal pix?
<

Richw where are you? I'm watching your movie and sleeping on your pillow...and eating your venison chili-

Anybody has questions -call us- we'll be more than happy to answer all your questions on Training Areas, weapons to bring, what's legal to shoot with what weapon, and just questions in general. That's what we're here for!

I am trying to work out the dates with my schedule, unfortunately I won't know until closer to the date so, I'll have to take my chances that there will be a spot open.

Was at the FHL gameshack today....

She said that she'd stay open late for my guys on Fridays so we could all get checked in.
If you can, try to schedule your trip so you arrive before 4:OO pm on Friday. That will give us time to get over there get checked in.

We also have a new full time worker at the Resort- her name is Corey and she might be of some assistance to those of you who have trouble finding your shot pig you've worked so hard to get. She's coming to us after a lengthly (well... 2 year) job as gov trapper assistant. She is now been promoted to Resort Hog Finder Manager:
She is a 3 year old Black Mouth Cur, and it's nice to have her bloodlines back-owned her grandfather, great dogs, fun to hunt piggies with. She's is the one facing the HAWG [attachment=37670:attachment]

Camping out is always fun, but I'll tell you what - those cabins at Bryson are sweet and you can't beat a hot shower after a long hard hunt.
