I'm not very familiar with private property pig hunting in Ca.
I want to know if you can legally hunt pigs in private ranches at night anywhere in CA?
I mean sport hunting not for depredation control.
I read the regulations but I'm a little confused.

That is a big fat NO.
You can't even hunt on your own land at night. They will come and get you...

Thank you for the quick response.
I got the same answer from F&G they told me only for depredation but you can't keep the pigs.
Now, If it's illegal hunting at night why there's so many photos of hunters with wild pig all over the web?

Many states allow hunting at night. Also many times the pigs are most active at dawn and dusk so guys shoot a pig at 7pm and then it takes them a few hours to: find it gut it and drag that hog back to the truck etc. It could be way past midnight if you shot it in a steep canyon. They are heavy!!!!

OK,
That make sense. Now I need to find a way to hunt the ranch before dark on weekdays no weekends hunt here.
This place have workers during the day and they leave around 4pm, the pigs are up on the hills waiting for everyone to leave so they can come down and feed on the farm produce.

The ranch owner say that pigs are heard at night only. so I have to find another plan.

Alot of times you can catch pigs early in the morning at greylight in the feed before they have left to bed down for the day, especially if there is little to no hunting pressure on them.

Get there in the dark and wait for enough light to see through binos. You might be surprised at what you see...

Find there bedding area and seat on the most heavily use trail. sooner or later they will make a mistake of coming out early to feed or drink.
