Public land advice not secrets

I am planing my first pig hunt ever. I am starting on public land and was thinking about cache creek ? Any advice for a bow hunter would be greatly appreciated.

Its very dry and chances of seeing pig is slim to none....but my advice is....scout that area to the best u can...than sit on a high area and glass....u can also search on here for more info on this place...good luck and don't forget to report back on what u saw or didn't see

U ask about Cache Creek info but It's hard to tell if thewolfman is giving u specific advice on hunting Cache Creek or just general hunting info for pigs in this state with our dry conditions.
I haven't heard much about cache creek lately I know the do have some good wildlife to hunt, I know their is some good BLM land off hwy 20 a few miles from clear lake. Other than that if u are within 3 hrs of Lake Sonoma the chances of pig encounters are good compared to other plh places to hunt in the area and the landscape and scenery is awesome. If u are interested we can try to hook up at L.S. and I will be your personal guide. Of course their are no guarantees but my passion and excitement for hunting wild pigs always makes for a good hunt successful or not.......tra

I have here that there are hogs up there. Oh don't forget to talk to Fish and Game or what ever they call them selfs these days.

Mendocino national forest has pigs. Take a look on google earth. Areas with water and oak trees is generally an area that pigs live. There hasn't been enough rain this year and because of that the acorns haven't rot yet. Pigs a still feeding on them so after morning gassing walk slow through oaks.

Pigs move around a lot so scouting will help a little but your best bet is getting out there and actually hunting. Look for sign in different areas and learn those areas.

I saw some pigs at Cache Creek about two months ago. Went back about two weeks after and it looked like they'd dissapeared after my first sighting (less scat, the wallow was dry, etc.) So basically, I'm not sure if they're there all of the time or were just passing through.

Judging you by your screen name, looks like Lake Sonoma will be the best place for you.

I think he's implying that since you are a bow hunter, Lake Sonoma would be better. The Lake Sonoma hunt is archery only, but has pretty good opportunities for pigs. Some can't hunt the lake because they don't have archery equipment, you're a step ahead in that regard.

Just retired after 28 years in Law Enforcement. Bought a Marlin 30-30 from Pro bass shop. Had one growing up and loved it for all types of hunting. I am looking to do some pig hunting been awhile since ive hunted but I enjoy the outdoors and now that I have time I was wondering if there are any groups or clubs I can attend ..Thank you

Ca fish and game usually has pig hunting workshops every year. Check their site might be worth attending.
