Thanks for the great ride-along. Newbys like me can get good info from your successful harvests. I'm not even going to ask about your favorite camo choices! Thanks for sharing the hunt.

Good observation(s). You/we won't get a response, and we know why (and so should other hog hunters).

Congratulations, that's a gnarly hog! I'm gonna need some details though! Public land…??!! Really…? Two hogs just running around on public land, in daylight..…? Come on Killer, give us more of the story. Where'd you hit him with the 22-250…? What county…?

Yes really public. They were definitely running, and it was definitely daylight (illegal to hunt game at night).

Me and a few buddies went up to a local area, found some sign, followed the sign, you could never guess what we found at the end! 5 or so pig running through nasty brush, my buddy killed the one that charged the others blew out. I followed the others while my buddy took care of his, I shot the hog in the leg, slowed it down a little then I popped him in the lungs and that was all she wrote. The others moved to the next country. So we got up early the next morning and found a little razorback but he put the slip on us.

SB county

Thanks. Pigs are a tricky creature to hunt, they really like that private, super hard to catch while hunting public. I'm not about to pay $500+ for a stinky pig!
Public or private though.. a dead pig.. Is just that... A dead pig

That's funny I know people who kill pigs on public land and tell people it was on private just so they don't get hounded for their spot. (Not calling anyone out)

Nice hog! Thanks for posting the pics. I'm pretty new to hunting, and only been hunting hog twice (once here in CA, and once in Texas).

This is my first post here on this website, so excuse my stupid question...

If this was shot on public land.. do you still need a hog tag? Were you just hiking around, stalking, or just sit-and-wait? Thanks.

Again, congrats.

Ask as many questions as you want. Yes you need a tag still. We found fresh sign and followed it.

Thanks!
