Friday late evening I decided to leave the city behind a bit and hit one of my favorite public land hunting spots.... So I called my big brother and some of my best friends and their father to come alone for this trip and off we went... Saturday came by with little animal movement.... We saw plenty herds of elk and quite a few amount of deer in area but no pigs were being seen... I was disappointed at first because I atleast see a pig even if I don't have an opportunity to shoot one... But hunting is hunting right? Sometimes we get what we want and sometimes we don't so I kicked back even though I put a lot of effort by covering ground on foot and by my truck.... Still no luck... Sunday morning came and it seems to me it was going to be cooler and a little fog settled in... Now in the back of my head I knew if we were to find some pigs it would definitely be on Sunday.... Around 9 or 10 I believe while driving my brother spotted a pig and this time I didn't want to miss the opportunity and it was on the run along side the dirt road so I got out of the vehicle and went towards the side by the little dried up river bed that was about 5 feet across and 4 feet deep which was where the pig was and using that river bed to not be seen.... Can't escape the eyes of my Leopold so I let one rip and down she goes 7 Mag Winchester Model 70 bullet was Nosler E-tip 150 grain reload just pure madness and deadly..... With no hesitation all one of the easiest shots I've taken just over 200 yards while running... Not bad I thought to myself then immediately I filled out my tag... gutted her and straight to the back of my truck bed and off we go home... The End............ Lesson learned never I mean NEVER give up!

Nice job Chris. I wish I could've joined you but had to coach flag football. A pig each of your last 3 trips there. Congrats bud. I'm happy for you.

I want to thank everyone for reading my story and taking a look at my picture with this wonderful animal... I thank the lord for blessing me with his gift from nature that would provide food on my table and food for my friends and family.... I'm truly blessed for getting a pig on public land it just seems like every time I go I end up taking a pig out of the rolling hills of Monterrey County ... Not trying to brag but I put in a lot of effort on trying to figure out where these pigs are and how they navigate without being seen by all the hunters that were out there... Also a friend of mine showed me a picture of the pigs his cousin shot the day before at the same place which were around 300lbs each... Once again I'm happy with what I get whether its a monster or a appetizer... By the way this hog was a dry sow so that made things even more better and made me feel a lot better as appose if it was a wet sow... Happy Hunting all! And again thanks everybody for reading my story and looking at the picture and especially to those who dropped a comment on this page... It is much appreciated..... Remember never give up!:smiley-mouse:

Oh I almost forgot this was my 14th pig from that same public land that I hunt most of the time when I go pig hunting.... This year I took 3 already counting this one... First in January which was a huge boar close to 300lbs, second was a young boar close to 150lbs, and at last this one was probably around 150 maybe tipping out on 160 lbs....
