Big up!!! That's outstanding work. And to top it off with a downhill drag is all the sweeter.

Thanks for the congrats everyone !!!

Yeah, the downhill drag was very easy, no complaits there. This was my first critter with the Barnes TSX. It went in through one rib and did not hit bones other than the ribs on the way in and out. I'll tell you what though, it sure must have mushroomed nice as the exit hole was about 2". I'm impressed with these bullets so far. The one Backcountry hit with his TSX did about the same job.

We saw another cool thing too while looking for the second hog. A turkey flew down from a roost only about 15 feet over our heads and then about 6-8 little baby ones flew down. It was pretty cool to see as they were very close to us. There were also 3 buck sightings, I saw a nice 3 and a forky travelling together and Pete spotted another buck on Saturday right before dark. I should have taken some pics but the bucks I saw were very spooky and when they spotted me at about 500 yards away they hauled butt out of the area.

Nice job on the hunt guys. Sounds like you got a nice spot for future hunts.

Figured since I was there I would put my 2 cents in and confirm BDB's story.

Seems that it always goes like this. YOU REALLY want to hunt and you don't see a thing...or...your just in the area for the heck of it, or your headed back to the truck and BINGO there they are.

Steve and I walked in Friday just to get a lay of the land so our Saturday morning O'Dark 30 walk wouldn't be in vain.

We were crouched down talking at a good normal volume when Steve spotted the hogs working there way up to us. I'm glad Steve got his, and it was nice of him to offer me the bigger of the two. I'm bummed I missed, can't actually believe I did to tell you the truth.

All in all we threw enough rounds at that big pig to qualify for a scene in a Rambo movie and she just kept on scootin out of Dodge with her tail on fire. Every step of our search afterwards I was convinced we would find blood but there just wasn't any.

I've been a pretty damn unlucky/unsuccessful (depends on your point of view) hog hunter, I've always consoled myself with the fact that I chose to hunt with a longbow and wood arrows but I guess thats out the window, can't quite complain about the draw weight or arrow speed of a 30-06!

Anyway, congrats to Steve, he executed a perfectly placed shot and took care of his meat in a manner that you would all be proud of, including a quick self butcher job and a nice BBQ last night!

Would be nice to get a hunt or 2 in while over there but I wouldn't know where to start and I will be pretty slammed with work. Good thing I am not getting an A zone tag this year as I'll miss most of the archery season this year. I'll miss the 108 degree temps out hunting deer
