I dug out a picture of me above timberline back from when I was Elk hunting a few years back and I remember the guide saying the trees in the picture by me only grow at that elevation. Does anyone know what kind they would be and just what elevation is timberline???? 11K maybe??

The Timberline depends on where your at. The timberline in say Montana is lower than the timberline here in Colorado. The firther north you go, the lower the timberline.

Here in Colorado 12K seems to be about where you hit it where I play

I would guess that the trees you saw were Krumholtz (sp?). They are low growing pines that look like they are blown over by the wind.
