Remember Ray, the guide from Yohkolh Valley up near Visalia? He offered free hunts here and then started charging? Looks like he got popped for guiding without a license. This month's CA Outdoors magazine has a short blurb about a DFG sting on him at that ranch.

He had 5 or 6 names he used here after sneaking back in after we booted him out. Boomsplat, drakedog, shoottom, danceswithpigs and Reagon01 were some. First he said he was looking for a job as a guide. Then he posted the pics of a ranch and said he was a swell guy who wanted to take people pig hunting for free. THen when someone recognized the area he asked we remove the pics. When I asked him straight out if he was starting a hog guide operation he said no and then he started charging for the hog hunts there.

Boars Canyon was the name of his guide company. Article sad he had a guide license at one time but not when they did the sting. He used different names in the field too. Ray and Adam I know of.

I hunted with a couple of friends with Adam at a Ranch in Visalia just better than a year ago....
I was not aware of all the goins on that you are all talking about here. I find this site to be Very valuable with all the information that it offers... But to be fair to Adam, I felt he took very good care of our party, Out of 4 hunters, and very bad weather...He stuck with us and got my cousin and I each very nice pigs on the first day out....

CAbowhntr, did you guys pay him for your hunt? Did you see his guide's license?

I'm a pretty tolerant guy, but the game he played here was unnecessary and wrong. And as far as being "fair" to him, the DFG didn't bust him because he's not a good guy. They busted him because he was breaking the law.

He may have been quite competent and hard-working as a guide. He certainly had access to some good properties. But there's a lot of guides out there playing by the rules who didn't think it was very "fair" that he should be making his own rules.

Speckmisser...

I am not discounting the things you said happened at this Forum, If I knew then what I know now I would have treated the whole thing differently, If someone is using various names, that ussually is a red flag for me. My hunt with Boar canyon was my first experience with a " Guided Hunt". Looking on line I found his site, contacted him, and went from there. I had not found this site at that time, and if I had , would have asked for experiences... Feel free to smack me around all you want for taking him at his word, but I had never done this before. Don't misunderstand my post.. As I said..I was unaware of the goins on..I'm not defending what he did... was just sharing my story with everyone.

I dont think you were wrong for going with him. Everything you did was right. Heck, he even got you a hog so that was a good thing. But........
he was not playing by the rules as set forth by DFG and for that he will pay the price.

I hunted with him on a ranch just outside Hollister. It was before, or actually right at the time of his antics that got him banned from this site. Don't get me wrong, I was happy to get my pig but he was playing games and got the boot, rightfully so. If he was breaking the law, I'm glad they busted him. Can anyone scan and post the article, I'd be curious to read it.
