Can you describe what they're calling "Trophy" pigs... and what they mean by "Guarantee?"

Anytime something sounds too good to be true... well, you know the rest.

There's some good hog hunting in the hills out there, and from what I hear, it's been improving. But I would always have a second glance at anyone who told me it was guaranteed... especially if they're guaranteeing a trophy. I'd get as much detailed information as you can, and they should be more than willing to provide it to you. If they start to hem and haw, then you might have your sons reconsider.

If they're running hounds, you will have pretty good odds because you can often let the smaller ones go. Otherwise, the only place that can truly guarantee anything is fenced in preserves where they know what's inside the fence and they know it can't get out.

Caveat emptor.

All that said, it could be a great hunt. There are some places back east that still offer "No Kill-No Pay" guarantees, so maybe that's what you've got here. Please let us all know what you find out from further questioning. It could save someone a bad hunt... or it could open up a great new hunting opportunity.

Speck a trophy, according to guide, is a pig over 300 lbs....according to guide, pigs are long nosed, all black pigs...nothing multicolored....long haired...this was in response to my sons asking if they were wild hogs or domesticated hogs released for the hunt.....I just hope the guide in an honest one...if he is, I will speak his praises, if he is not.....He may not like me very much though......thanks for the input....Pappy

**UPDATE** My sons completed their guided pig hunt with "OPEN HILLS OUTFITTERS" Dan Davis (owner/guide)...they didnt quite get 300lbers, but, they got a 175 and 275 lbs "RAZOR BACKS"...They said, Dan worked extremely hard for them to put them on pigs...Saturday was non producing, so , Dan took them back out on Sunday at no extra charge.....they said he was a great guide and would recommend him highly and are going to go back and hunt with him again soon......If you want Dans phone number, feel free to contact me.....Another great day in the field.....Pappy

Did they spot and stalk, or did they use dogs?

If you could, would you send me the guides' info? Just use the email link at the bottom of this post.

Thanks!
