Stopped at the range on the way home for a final check on my last tweak of some handloads for my .30-06 Sako...It'll be the last time I can shoot before go time, but I think it'll dew.

You guys should know I love the TSX's by now. This is just one half of the equation - the other half is they kill pigs dead.

Time to start packin'.

But damn! Look how far you are from the bullseye!

That'll never do. You better make some more range time.

Sako_AIII_edited-1.jpg

Sako AIII (Circa 1980). I picked it up at the local store as a X-mas present to myself last year. I couldn't resist, it was priced at blue book, in good condition, and I couldn't believe that it had sat on the rack for more than a few days, let alone the couple of months it had been there.

I installed steel pillars, opened up the barrel channel a bit, and glass bedded with acra-glas gel. I also touched the crown up with a brass screw and valve grinding compound, then polish.

I wanted a classic look, so I topped it with a Loopy FXIII 6x42 fixed power in gloss finish. It's a nice scope, but I do not like the duplex reticle, I'll be sending it in for the heavy duplex after Tejon. To complete the classic look, it has a 1" boyd leather military sling.

Load is 168gr. TSX's at .050" off the lands, 58 grs. of IMR 4350. Necksized RP brass, WLR primers, Lee factory crimp. Avg. velocity 2890 fps, sighted for 250 yd. zero.

Is that 100 yards or 600? WoW you have that thing dialed in either way. Question - are you shooting from a bench or sandbags?

That's incredible. Are you taking the gun vise to Tejon?

Yah Booooiiiiyyyy:

B-Ditty in the house. Six Pacificos and Tilapia on top of Spinache con summa kinda Cilantro Pesto Sauce. Bring it.

Hey, got any of that Firestone Beer up your way? Lookin' forwardto talkin' some smack around the campfire in about 29 days. I'm sure that pea shooter of yours will put the smack down on a hog mighty quicklike. It's a very smart looking rifle.

Rancho Loco:

I dunno. You missed the dime.

Seriously, the last group I shot that looked like yours was from a range of 11 feet. From a bench rest. Using a vice to hold the rifle. Shooting through a length of steel pipe.

Rancho,
Yeah, I agree, you missed the dime and you missed the bullseye. Yup...you sure did. Congratulations anyway for such a fine rifle/ammo/scope combo. It's a winner. The hogs in Tejon are now in trouble. 'Nuff said and God Bless.

Have you tried the MSX? Barnes said on the web that they fly flater for long shots.

New gun, new binos.......you better kill one.

How are the binos? The gun works okay.

Bino's are awesome. It feels like I stoled them for what they were selling for.

The MRX's seem pretty pricey, I'll wait to see what the E-Tips go for and maybe give them a try. For reference, here's how the Nosler Accubonds are shooting.

Some nice shootin'.....Once I get my garage done and my bench set up I'm gonna try them TSX's.

BTW, I got a flyer from Tejon stating all lead ammo is banned for the upcoming season.....I heard it was probably gonna happen but now it's official.
