i have only found 8 sheds this year (snow is slowing my down). but of the 8 sheds, 7 of them are right sides. the only lefty is somebodies rattling antle i think because it hade a string wrapped arround its beam and then neatly tyed off. has anybody else had mainly a left or right side year to? or do u guys find that it is about the same?

This question comes up now and again. So far this year I have 5 right and 2 left, two being a match. A month ago I counted all my horns and have just a couple more of one side than the other - I have roughly 65 horns so it tells me I find each side the same amount.

I some times think the same thing when I find several of one side but it is just dumb luck and where you decide to walk.

yea, i know that it is just a 50 50 chance on which side you will find. i was just wondering if anybody had noticed a left or right streak also, and it looks like a few of you had.

i talked to a farming kid in my class, and he said that a few years ago his dad blew a tire on his taractor because o a shed too. second time i have heard this in a week. o, and he gave me permission to go on all of his land. HE HAS ALOT OF LAND! thats what i am talking about.

I usually find a good mix of both sides over all.I have noticed in different areas it's either one side or the other though.Earlier this year when I had my one day record shed day.It was 11 right sides and 10 left sides, not the norm.
That leads to a good question. How many matched sets do you find per number of sheds found. For me it averages one matched set for every 10 sheds found. That's alot of sheds still laying somewhere.
In my areas I have alot of competetion from other shedhunters so they might be finding some of those missing antlers.

Here’s a question for you guys. when you find a whole skull or body of a buck, from winter kill or whatever, do you consider it a match like sheds, or do you put it in a category of its own.

I consider it unfortunate to find dead ones and don't count them as sheds. They way I see it is that if he shed that he would have one hell of a head ache.

IVE ONLY FOUND ONE SET TOGETHER AND IT WAS A LITTLE RUNT 2x2. WHEN YOU FIND A SET HOW FAR APART IS THE NORM? I AM SURE IT VARIES BUT WHEN I FIND ONE I LOOK ALL AROUND AND NEVER COME UP WITH THE OTHER SIDE.
