I'm the first to admit I'm new at elk hunting, and I'm learning as much as I can. Occasionally, I see the mention of "ivories" almost in the same light as trophies. After I get my elk (notice I didn't say "if"), am I suppose to pull his teeth out?? What's up with that?

if YOU don't,for sure the Hunter that finds the skull will. Also be carefull when cutting them out not to cut the roots off.Have collected quite a few sets, keep with retrieved bullets, dinged broadheads, then when showing "Hero Pictures"bring out the IVORIES,just adds aliitle more to the story

No,No,No,the "Ivories" only consist of 2 teeth.Located on the top jaw, towards the front ,kind of like a rounded canine tooth. Both Bulls and Cows have them, but Older age class of elk "Ivories"are the best, larger, and with a better Brown Swirl coloring.
