RSS board issue

I have a RSS board with a D370 that has recently started to continously take pictures. I have changed all the batteries and checked connetions. The motion sensor triggers every few seconds, lighting up the green LED. When the Red LED comes on (every 30 sec based on settings), snaps a picture.

Has the sensor gone bad? How can I check?

I would first disconnect te camera and see if continues to cycle without the camera connected. If it stops the problem is in the camera. If your cable from the RSS to camera is stays connected to the RSS all the time like mine. I would ohm out the connector to make sure there is no short in it. Then I might even try changing the dip switches to a different refresh rate to see if that changes anything. Not sure this wasmuch help but all I can think of right now. Sure sounds like the shutter is shorted somewhere.

Thanks g-hog for the reply...I disconnected everything from the board, but the power, yet I am getting the same thing. I would agree with the shutter short, but the problem is that the green LED comes one every few seconds, as if it is detecting motion. That leads me to believe something is up with the sensor...

Any idea how to check a sensor?

I had an rss board do this but it was because it got wet.Would just go off on its own but funny thing is,the delay feature worked fine.If I had it on 30 second delay than after leds lit up without any movement in front of camera it would not do it again until 30 seconds later.Same thing on the other settings.I figured it was toast but after a good drying out period it has been working fine.

It got wet because someone stole the unit from tree and took the d380 cam and threw pelican case in a creek,but of course the case was open....

Yes, make sure the board is dry. Sensors can go bad depending on how they were used. Also, make sure your PIR sensitivity POT isn't set too high. I have seen this too often.

How can I check to see if the PIR is functioning correctly? I know the board is completely dry, and I have changed the POT from one end to the other, but still I am getting the same false triggers.

One thing I didn't mention was that I had a Pedometer connected through a 100 ohm resistor and an opto to the power LEDs contact points. The counter functioned fine for almost 4 months, up until this issue with the sensor false trigger. Could this some how caused the problem??
